Problems getting in gear.. PLEASE HELP! Im having problems with my 99 TA. I've had problems since I bought it last year, occasionally grinding 2nd and 3rd.. usually when its cold or when i try to shift too fast. And theres always been about 2-3" of play in the clutch pedal before it grabs. I put in a new clutch master and bled the hydraulics as best I could and that helped but didn't fully fix it.
Well today I take it to work and its grinding 2nd pretty bad. Im thinking maybe its just cus its cold. Well I get out of work and start driving home and it grinds 2nd and pops out and wont go into 4th or 6th... but it will go into 1st 3rd and reverse.
I was told that the clutch was original when I bought it and it has 70k but it doesnt seem to slip so I dont know about that. But it seems like something else is going on here...
I don't know much about manual transmissions so any help will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you are in need of a transmission rebuild. There really isn't anything else that would lead to the issues you are seeing. Should you need a clutch as well, since you are likely pulling the transmission and might as well replace it at the same time, let me know and I will be happy to assist you with a recommendation. Hey there, yes, it sounds like a tranny issue, which we (my shop) can handle for you.
Usually, 1 or 2 gears, is tranny related...all of them (or most) is hydraulic or clutch related.
However, since your clutch is original, and tranny HAS to come out anyways, you might as well install a clutch as well while you are there. (I can help you out there as well)
