Avoiding Atlanta Traffic
Im down in Auburn Al for college and will be taking a trip to Greenville, SC. I will be leaving directly after school on a Friday and that will put me in Atlanta at the peak of rush hour traffic. Ill be taking I-85 the whole way. Is there an easy way around the city? Yes I-285 is a bypass but that will be packed as well I am sure. Leaving earlier / later is not an available option. I welcome any help locals can offer

Take a small detour and go around Atlanta if you can. If you HAVE to go through there watch out for cops. I lost track of all the cars we saw pulled over around Atlanta on our way back from NC.

Its a toss up on 285 and 75/85 through town but if you take 285 and stay left at I-20 mess it might be better to I-85. I-85 is gonna suck till you get past about Hamilton Mill exit. Then you are home free. btw. Turn your radio on am 750 WSB for traffic updates.
