Thumbs up I swapped out the locker for a Wavetrac yesterday in the GTO we took to the Shootout

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=11

The car is ready for the track, we're going to see how the weather holds out for Muncie Dragway tomorrow night. You can check out the Moser M9 (fabricated rear) we have installed in this GTO at the above link. We currently have this GTO at 809 rwhp on 93 octane fuel, methanol injection is coming, etc. Moser is confident the Wavetrac will handle the power, and we're anxious to try it out at this power level. We've installed Wavetrac's in lesser horsepowered cars, and they're working great. This car has a manual transmission, and is on M/T 325/50R15's, so it will put it to the test! Bob

We got this GTO back together with a Wavetrac. The car turns so much easier than it did with the locker, it made a huge difference. We decided to take the car to our local track last night. Brent ran the car as I have a pinched nerve in my neck. He came out at 4000 on the first run and it hooked so hard it bogged. It went a 2.?? 60 ft, granny shifted it to a 11.30 or so at 134 mph on that run with the blower belt slipping. We tightened down the blower belt and Brent went back to the line for his 2nd run and came out at 6000 rpm. Keep in mind this 809 rwhp GTO has a Moser M9 with a Wavetrac, 3.50 gears now and a torque arm, with M/T 325/50R15's. Something broke in the built 6 speed trans, car doesn't move in any gear.... Oh, did I mention I drove this GTO to the track... We needed to get break in miles on the drivetrain. We're picking it up today. This car desperately needs a 4L80E transmission. We can tell this new rear is going to work great, even with the stock front suspension! Bob

Sounds good Bob, hopefully this will be the magic bullet for reliable limited slip diffs. Personally do not expect in the long run to be much better then a Tru Trac and for the price, it def has some high expectations.

But I would love to be proved wrong, for all racers, that would be a good thing.

Please keep us posted.

RPM Transmissions Level V build, it is going to need a stronger input shaft to handle the power, and even then no one knows how long it will last. The Viper guys run into this all the time, dumping the clutch at 6000 rpm is extremely violent and they're always having to rebuild their transmissions. Years ago, very few had 1000hp.

The Wavetrac looks very promising!

Will do indeed, thanks.

Moser thought the 3.50 gear combination would be stronger for this application than the 3.70 gear that we did have in there. With an automatic it wouldn't of been an issue. Bob

I hear you. I've always preferred driving manual transmissions. My first new car was a new '82 Z28, and it was a manual 4 speed. A Comp 268 camshaft went into the 'lil 305 shorty after I broke in the engine. Bank then, Comp had these yellow half page ads in Hot Rod magazine - The good ole days! I raced a lot of people with that new car, they never suspected that it was anything but stock. Who would be stupid enough to do that to a new car back in '82? Bob

Update: It turned out to be the output shaft that broke in the transmission. RPM Transmissions ordered a much stronger 32 spline output shaft, and with some machine work and a turbo 400 yoke, we should have it back at the track within a week. Bob

Muncie Dragway today opens at 10:00. VHT is reportedly going to be put down all the way down the track! Rodney from RPM Transmissions is running Cody's GTO for us today. (809 rwhp and a six speed) Brent can't make it and I have a pinched nerve in my neck so I don't want to try driving this beast. Bob

Possibly, I'll do what I can for you.

The Wavetrac performed flawlessly yesterday at the track. Clearly this GTO now needs to ditch the oem front shocks and springs. 60 ft time was in the 1.55 range. The drag radial/manual transmission combo isn' the best either, a bias ply ET Street would work much better with the manual transmission, but the drag radial works much better as an all around street tire. Good luck with it.

Pedders 90/10 front shocks showed up the other day for this GTO, they should make a huge difference. Bob

Bob is the Wavetrac available for the Moser 12 bolt. I broke my trutrac last weekend and I am debating what I am going to put back in there besides a trutrac. I am looking at either a spool or Wavtrac or locker. My car sees very little street use and am just thinking of going spool and let it be.

To my knowledge the Wavetrac is not available for the 12 bolt. I'd go with a spool, less money, lighter, etc. Thanks. Bob
