Daily Driving with Skinnies Come In
ok so im getting a new wheel setup i just dont know what yet been looking at the 15x4 and 15x10 billet specialties. ive never driven a car with skinnies so how is it? how does it differ from having a wide contact area of tire on the front? i figured steering would be affected such as cornering but what else? i tried the search but either my computer is messed up or the search isnt working.

i drive with mine, you have to be really careful, not fast turns, can't take on ramps hauling ***, sometimes you'll get a side to side action on the highway depending on what tires you get

its rough for the first two days then you get use to it.
however if you run soft sidewall tires cornering is scary. i would reccomend running a 165r tire from discount or where ever for daily driving. they last longer and with a hard sidewall they corner better.
i have been daily driving mine for about two years. watch out for pot holes

I DD mine. dont take turns fast. that is the most important part.
pretty much, just always remember that they are on your car: turns, stopping distance, pot holes for the rims sake, etc. you'll be good bro.

Ditto. I don't daily it, but my track car often gets driven to the track and back (over 1 hour each way) and I drive it to car meets.
Like the others, I have "real" front tires, not front runners and it's no big deal to drive around on them. Just don't try to play SCCA driver and it's fine.

If you get a normal front tire and just some normal back tires. No drag radials you will never know the difference. I have always had a set of welds on all of my cars. Honestly I wouldnt have it any other way. There is no more cornering, but I was never into that anyways. I have hit pot holes and never had a problem with weld wheels, now I dont know aobut the other race wheels out there. The old nitto 555r tires worked good in rain and on ice. Im running the new mickey thompson et streets, but I havent gotten them wet yet.

i run my 275/50/15 et streets at about 14psi and they have been wearing evenly. i have about 12k miles on them so far
just check the tire wear every once in a while. i think i was running 20psi when they were new and noticed the middles were wearing faster than the outside so i reduced the pressure
wearing on the outer edges faster than middle = not enough tire pressure
wearing on the inside faster than edges = too much pressure

are you using mt radials or streets (bias ply) on the street?
to the OP, when the time comes i also am interested in streetlites but i want the 17x7 and 15x10 for the rear. i don't know if anyone on here runs them like that. so is everyone running radials on their 15x10's here?

When I use to DD my Camaro I drove 75 miles a day with skinnies in the front for 6 years. Never had a problem, but like everybody says, just be safe by being careful on sharp turns and what not. It felt the same to me driving skinnies as it was with the 275 stockers up front. Make sure you have a tire that will hold up.
