Default Driving around town with a pair of skinnys?

This is a noob question but, im planning on turning my TA into a weekend warrior track car and want to know if I can drive around town with drag radials with a pair of skinny's regularly? I know it is suicidal driving around in the rain with radials, so lets assume good weather only.

How often have you driven on the highways, if at all?

With the right drag wheels and right tires you can definetly drive it around town all you want. Some drag wheels and tires aren't meant for anything but track use. I run M/T Sportmans upfront and would recommend them to you since you want to drive it on the street.

I run Drag Radials and skinnies all the time. Been caught in shitty weather before, that's not exactly fun. Just don't drive like a dumbass and you'll be fine.

radial and rain, suicide?? if they are in good condition they drive like any other tire in the rain. when they get past half way and close to the wear bars is when the fun begins. lol i stuck my skinnies i got for my other car on my DD two years ago, just to see how they looked. the 165/80 kumo's are almost to the wear bars now and have not been off the car. lol its been all over the country. hot rod power tour, and lot of high speed blast and sustained high speeds. been thru corners faster than any spooled, no front sway bar, skinny tire car should ever be.

SO, i say they are fine for a DD

I drove drag lites with street tires on the read and skinnies up front for a little over a year.. Every day, rain shine snow hail sleet etc etc etc etc.. I would not suggest certain drag radials in rain..

I drove city and highway perfectly fine..

Im driving on DR's and skinnys. I have been stuck in two heavy ran storms so far, and I have had no problems. I have drove around on them for the past 6 years.

ET streets are drag radials.. I would not suggest 55Mph with them in heavy rain.. Just me.

What is the best 18" drag radial for rain? I live in South Carolina and it rains all the time. I can not afford having a race wheel setup and street wheels.

man, i swear my mickey DR's drove as good as any tire in the rain when they were new. id do 80 in a downpoor and not think twice about it. but once they got down under half tread i started to see what everyone was talking about. i drove it once when they were down to the wear bars in a hard rain and it was 45 tops and that was a constant controled fishtail

So it sounds like ill be fine with a drag set up as my weekend DD. I assume to avoid driving spiritedly around corners turns.

those are not the drag radials. thats the bias ply et street. thats what i have on my car now. and yes, they are not recomended for rain. lol air pressure helps tho. they are the same as driving a pure slick. it can be done. just would not advise it to others. haha

check the sig. what you see is what you get for me. i used to have a set of tt 2s for the streets, but i like the welds better so that is all i drive on. the car is my DD. if you are going to run a spacer on front, i would recommend some longer ARP studs.
...and as you said, drive reserved on sharp turns and dont plan on going too much faster than 45mph in the rain. you won't have it in the rain though anyway i guess.

The track is going to be my farthest destination with skinny's, but that is about 75 miles from my house via highway.

NO they are not. they are NOT a radial, and are not considered one. try to run that in a radial tire class. lol there is a reason the size does not come in a metric tire size ie. 245,255,275....ect. they come in 26x10.5 26x11.5 28x10.5 and so on just like a slick. they are a bias ply cheater slick. they are a DOT tire but NOT a radial
