th400 swap completed, now I've got some questions
Who has done the free speedo mod with a 98':
I wired up my speedo as described in the FAQ - wired the VSS to the WSS. I used the left front WSS which had a Yellow and light blue wire. I spliced the yellow with the yellow and the light blue to the purple. I compared the plugs with what was used in the write up and I'm pretty sure that's right. Now when I went to modify the Tire/Gear for the speedo it said it was an invalid number. For the 98, you use the tire size divided by the gear ratio.
What transmission mount is everyone using:
I have a pretty bad vibration at an unknown mph (see previous question), but I'd guess it starts somewhere near 50mph.

im sure my speedo isnt right on but its close.... I used this calculator to figure rpm/speed. http://www.wallaceracing.com/gear-speed.php then i took the car out got into 3rd and read the speedo at that rpm. mine cam up to 21mph at 3000 rpm. so I divided all the speedo tables by 3... seems pretty close.
This is what i have for values in the speedo for 28" tires, 3.70 gears, with a 3000 stall
Mile- 34872
Rev-trans - 13.3320
trans revolutions/mile - 871.8164

(Mine: 3000rpm= 67mph)
go out on the highway in 3rd and go to that rpm... read your speedo.
(mine: 21mph at 3000rpm)
take what your speedo says and divide 65mph by the mph you got at 3000rpm.
(mine: 65 / 21 = 3.1)
Take the number you came up with (mine was 3.1) and take your values in the speedo tables and divide them by that number. (This will be X)
SPEEDO tables in HPTUNERS: stock value / X = your new value
Mile: 104612 / 3.1 = 34872
Rev-Trans: 40 / 3.1 = 13.3320
Trans Revolutions/mile: 2615.3905 / 3.1 = 871.8164

weird.... it should read something.... check your connections.
I THINK this will put you close, but im not an expert on this, lol... try it and then record what your speed says at 2700...
dont worry about the tire/gear table....
30589.47
11.6947
764.7513
enter those values and get back to me with your rear tire size and the mph at 2700rpm and i will get you darn close....

28" tire
30617.616
11.7054
765.4548
26.33" tire
32975.17
12.6067
824.39.48
so at 2700rpm you should be at 65.1mph... go for a drive and see how close 65mph is to 2700rpm...
if its not close tell me what the speedo says at 2700rpm so i can get it right.
Its hard to use my values to figure for your car lol.

ok so youll want to use the 26.33 for the tune...

I also have a 98 and using the tire/gear doesn't work for me either so you have to manually enter the "mile", "Rev-trans", and "trans revolutions/mile" instead of using the tire/gear......
ya i was just giving you the values for both a 26" and 28" tire...
but this is what you'll enter since youll be running the 26" tire on the street.
Mile- 32975.17
Rev-trans - 12.6067
trans revolutions/mile - 824.39.48
it should be fairly close.... when you test it tomorrow if its not at 65mph at 2700rpm remember exactly the mph it was at and I help ya get it straightened out.
What did you do for the rest of the trans tuning???? shift points, rpm, speed, tcc tables, ect...?

Its not to bad, except the crying.... Ive already done all the baby stuff, HAVE FUN! Tell your wire happy birthday

The vibration is gone until the higher speeds. I have the torque arm plus driveshaft angle at -3. I also added that poly mount that I got from advance.
For the speedo, I input those values and it says 65mph at 2400ish rpm. Probably cause I was going off of my old rear tire measurements. I measured the ones on their now and it's 25.5" on the rear. But I'm pretty certain the reason you do the wiring is to use the front tires. The front tires are 24.375"

here are your values...
37050.75
14.1648
926.2863
I understand you being confused about me talking about the rear tires... but its easier to calculate from the rear tires for me... as the 98 wont work like the writeup suggests...
Good to hear you got the vibration fixed... still saving for my new DS, motor mounts, shifter cable, ect....
