Default Used W-Bodies

I'm just looking for some advice/experience with the higher mileage (60k +) W-Body LS4's. How do these cars hold up with high mileage?

Also I've been looking at things like LS1 Camaros and T/A's, but something like these cars have that sleeper effect going for them. How do these cars do in the weekend light-to-light wars?

I'm just curious on these cars. I've been looking to get into a better DD for a while now (yay 17mpg truck for 60 miles each day) and wanted some good GM muscle.

Something along these lines:

Under 10k isnt a bad deal if it has the 5yr/100k powertrain and you dont plan on modding it that heavily. GXP with tapshift is a nice wbody LS4.

Modding to put it into the low to mid 13's isn't too much for these cars is it? I think the extent of what I would do (from what I've read from here) would be a nice cat-back system, catless cut-out, CAI and a tune. Would that be sufficient to break into said 1/4 mile time zone?

But there are no weird quirks that would seep out around 125k miles?

Normal stuff... ball joints, bushings, mounts, etc. Look underneath on a lift before buying if possible.

I ran 13.9 bone stock my first time at the track with it less than a week after purchase. But that is at my elevation...I don't know about doing that in CO.

Whats your elevation?
The intake gasket problems were on my older GP 3100-3400 and so on. I don't think there is a problem with theses

Panther is in CO, I believe he's running higher 14's due to elevation with a few mods.

I forgot about the elevation. But I meant at optimal conditions (around 500' above sea, mid 60's with low humidity). I would expect something like these cars to run a 14.4x-14.7x at Bandimere. Where I am at right now is at 5800'.

I'm pretty sure Panther said he ran his at Bandimere.

I ran 13.5 a couple weeks ago with intake, downpipe, superchips, and drag radials. I was running mid 14's before downpipe and tune in the Texas summer heat.

So does a tune wake these engines up like they do in the trucks? Or are they less conservative from the factory?

The biggest improvement I've had so far was the catless downpipe.

I had a catted 3" downpipe, with DR's, intake, and exhaust and ran 13.9-14.0 @ 98-100 for two months straight.

In the same conditions, I swapped the catted for catless, ran 13.5 @ 101, with a worst run of 13.9 when I spun.

I changed from a best trap speed of 99.x to 104.x with the only change being the catless downpipe and the cutout.

Fiddle, how much are you looking to spend for a GXP? I was offered $11k for my 08 GXP at a dealer today when I was trying to buy a truck.

Looking at max 10k. There's a few LS1's around here for that price, but they all scream for attention. Something I want none of.

If I had more money I'd look at getting into a bigger, badder (diesel) truck like every other egghead around here. It's getting really ridiculous with all these cowboys and their smoke blowing attitudes. I just wanna hurt them with something they won't see coming.

The car I posted I'm sure I could haggle down to around $8500. It's been for sale for nearly 3 months. But I'm just gathering info, I don't really plan on making a real move on anything until spring (unless I can get a screaming deal on something).
