Default intake manifold questions

hey, i just pulled my intake manifold off, and noticed a green, black, and grey wires in the back of the engine bay. they were stripped off a little at the ends too. does anyone know where these go to? and were any of you guy's engines this dirty around the heads?
thanks

btw, you guys that are always switching manifolds, is there an easier way to pull this thing off, i think i busted more knuckles on this than i did doing lt's

Can you snap a pic of the wires, and did you break the sensor on the back of the manifold?

those wires look like the wires for the knock sensor harness. that dirt is normal under the intake. the intake manifold should have gaskets.

Looks like the wiring to the Knock Sensors. As long as none of the wires are broken, I would use some electrical tape to cover anything thats frayed. If you disconnect the electrical connector at the back of the engine and at the two knock sensors, you can remove the harness from the engine bay. That may make taping the wires simpler.

Man, you're not kidding. Your engine is really dirty. Mine had some crud in there when I upgraded my intake last month, but nothing like the picture you show. Yuck, man!!

okay, thanks for the info guys. so i can just remove the knock sensors? yeah i know i was really surprised by how nasty it was under there, but when i bought the car, the engine bay looked like it went through a sand storm.
btw, how do i remove the plug/vacum hose thing at the back of the intake so i can wash and start prepping the intake for paint?

Why would you take the fuel rail off? You don't have to. You unbolt the Intake manifold, pop out the injectors from the intake manifold and pull the intake out.

it's just easier to get the manifold out with the fuel rail off but it's not mandatory

trace them back to the source. few other people including myself already stated that we believe they are the knock sensor harness wires.

okay so it warmed up a little today and i pulled the cover off my car to put my manifold on. well i found the plug that them three wires pulled out of. its the plug that goes into the back of the intake manifold(knock sensor?) how do i put wires back into a plug and does anyone know the color/order of them into the plug? and i noticed this too. looks like it broke, idk. its the round circle thing in the back with the orange 0-ring on it.

heres the rest of it, what is this?

May be better off just finding the other end and replacing that entire harness plus adding some conduit to keep it from being exposed so easily again.

Although i don't see where the wires are pulled from the harness plug, if they are, i agree with the above post stating you should consider replacing the entire knock sensor wiring/harness.

Your second picture from this post is your broken oil pressure sending unit. The other half of it is the "round circle thing with the orange O-ring". Unrelated to the knock sensors, this is a very common mistake when removing the intake manifold. You will definitely want to grab a new one and install it before you reinstall your intake. I'm not sure what they cost, but i know you can pick one up at Autozone.
