Default How much boost can I run?

stock LS1(internals and all) with 317s, ls6 yellows and 7.4 chromemoly pushrods. I was going to just run stock WG spring, which is 5.8psi, but now that I have lowered CR due to the heads I feel like I can get away with more boost. Would it be feasible to be able to up the boost to lets say 9psi??

You can go for around 550rwhp and be alright on stock internals.....as long as tune is good

I was told beyond 8psi, they have issues with blowby but since I lowered CR that should allow me more boost.

Awesome! Did Frost send you a base tune and you modify it or did you actually bring your car to him?

He tunes my car in person, but he does do tuning by email if you buy hp tuners. You basically keep sending him logs.

You will probably come in just under the limit of those valvesprings. Much more boost and you can expect float. As long as you don't up the rev-limiter too much it will probably be fine.

and just remember it's all about the HP you are throwing at the motor not the amount of boost. Yes a lower compression is good to avoid other harmful things from happening (detonation, cyclinder pressure issues, etc). But you are a step ahead of a lot of people.

Hey if you ain't tuning it yourself have Frost do it he'll steer you in the direction as far as whats going to work and what won't. He is VERY knowledge.

Haha, my plan was to have him do the base tune and have it dyno tuned locally. Lol, good to know you approve of his work!

10 psi with a good tune is nothing, mine has seen 15. Only difference being a cam, better valvesprings, and head studs(which are probably not needed).

Do you guys run 9-10psi all the time or do you run a boost controller to drop the boost down for daily use?
