It is radiator hose. Just a metal section. Kinda held in place by that plastic clip. Its normal.

no. it's a power steering cooler. 98-99 WS6's and maybe SS's came with them, as did all 00-02's. might have also been an option from 98-99. it's really not beneficial. some argue it actually makes it hotter and i believe a few people have had it leak causing the power steering fluid and coolant to mix.

if you plan on road racing/autoxing you may want to look into a real cooler eventually, or just go with a reduced flow pump (i'm doing the latter)

It caused the power steering fluid and coolant to mix on my '99 WS6. I deleted it. Probably going to do the same if the one on my '00 SS ever gives me any problems.

PS cooler is RPO V12, it was standard on SS and WS6 from '98+, and did not become standard on the base V8 models until 2002.

Get a radiator hose for a '98 Z28, then delete the cooler.

This could be correct. The more I think about it, I'm not 100% sure if it was '00, '01, or '02. But I'm certain the '98-'99 base V8s didn't have it.

I deleted the cooler in my 99' SS and after deleting it my powersteering got harder when turning. It felt like it was tighter. I reinstalled it and got back to normal.. I don't know if my car was just being sensitive to the mod or what?

PS feels the same in my '98 Z (without cooler) and my '02 Z (with cooler). Not sure what happened with yours?
