Default '04 GTO into '91 FBIRD starts, wont run?

Hi,

Ive been reading alot of stuff about this swap & still cant get this to run, could it be harness wiring / alternator wiring or something else i overlooked?
Does any one have any tips on wiring the '04 GTO into the '91 harness?
I have the '91 stock 700r4 built for racing w/ all the upgrades & the "Bowtie Overdrives" "tv made easy" kit instaled & on the intake, K&N cold air kit w/ SLP 5 wire maf/iac, everything should be ready to go but its kinda hard to start & when it starts it revs up to about 1800 orso for afew and then dies & i'm getting some interm. backfiring from the exhaust i think.

Ive tried afew ideas from posts on this site & others but still no luck, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you might have the fuel injector or ignition coil harness on the incorrect bank.

Add your ALDL connector. 4 wires

Serial goes to B58 for 99+ GEN III PCMs

Yes, it could be the cam or crank sensor, they both are needed to make the thing run. With a code scanner, you could have a good idea where to start.

cool I'll try the cam &/or crank sensors also & will look into a code reader of some kind too, since i've been assured that its deff. not the pcm tuning at issue here.

Borrow a scanner, tuner or tow the car to and advance auto

I doubt its the crank sensor because it shouldnt fire at all with a bad one

If it starts and shuts off right away it might be the VATS

could it be the stock 3rd gen. 5.0 fuel filter under the car ? gonna remove it & make a shunt to fill the gap that threads on in its place & drain the old gas at the same time, since its been sittn for over 2 years now.

You left that detail out in the TGO thread

TBI have no chance what-so-ever of feeding a LSx engine

V6/TPI pumps peak at 60psi brand new. LSx engines operate at 58psi constantly. You may get it to run on a stock style pump but it wont last for long and it WILL run out of fuel soon

Go for a cheap LS1 pump or walbro 255

While the tank is down, itd be a good idea to clean out the old gas. It is not recommended to cut an access hole like 4th gens because 3rd gen lines do not end close to the top of the tank. This requires cutting and repairing the lines

Things like this are covered in the swap stickies in just about every forum

hi, I didnt leave that out, I just thought of it, but you read it wrong.
I do have a new Walbro 255 in the tank & I already cut an access panel years ago when the oem pump quit on me & w/o damaging/ repairing any lines(THANK GOD!) one of the best mods i ever did! any way i was talking about the stock 5.0 fuel FILTER, inline, under the car, not the pump at all, sorry for the confusion there.
so do you think bad gas/ wrong filter(oem tbi 5.0) could be a part of this prob. or is there somthing else?
