I'm back to this site after a long absence. Sold my Camaro, bought a diesel pickup, sold pickup, bought a Cobalt, traded Cobalt in on an Impala SS (my first four door).

Anyways, I'm pretty happy with this car the way it is but may do a catback and a little window tint and that's gonna be it. I promise.

Lower it...on some SSC springs and some KYB struts. It will look mean. Thanks but no thanks. It would look good but I'm not doing anything that would degrade the ride.

Someone suggested to me to leave the stock mufflers and get rid of the resonator. Has anyone done this? I'm not looking for loud but a nicer tone would work.

Tons of people have done this. Was very popular. I did a manual cutout after the res but before the mufflers. I did this for the cost. Gets me a nice sound when i want and silent cruising for the long trips.

Deleting the resonator would be a really good idea if you're looking to keep the stock tone just a little louder. You may hear DOD more but nothing unbearable.

OK thanks. Guess my dumb ass could have done a search first before asking.:emb:

I just remember i was going to get a cobalt, up in till i saw my imp. I think we all know what the right choice was.

I just remember i was going to get a cobalt, up in till i saw my imp. I think we all know what the right choice was.Well, my Cobalt was a base LS, 5 speed, crank windows. Don't have anything bad to say about it, good A to B car, no complaints. I even took it to the track a couple times and managed to get the fastest time on cobaltss.net for a stock 2.2 Cobalt. I went 15.40 @ 89. Oh, and 35 MPG was nice too.:D

35 MPG

Your going to miss that.

XFiveLiter
02-05-2010, 04:20 PM
Your going to miss that.I know.:( Getting about 22 MPG now according to the display. I can live with that.

Here is the link to my thread about my "fast Cobalt" if anyone cares. http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=89861

HAHA my overall average for the past 4 months or so is currently at 17.9 mpg....

Vectus

17.4 for me, but its half city half highway. I've stated before that those fuel cleaning things really did help me.

I've been stuck at 16mpg, 80% city.

Me measuring 60' times at every redlight doesn't help either...

I've got videos to prove I can launch my car, too. :D

But its all the practicw that makes one so good. :angel:I don't practice 60' much anymore, more like practice getting good MPGs. Guess that's why I was able to get 35 combined in a Cobalt that is rated 34 HWY. Hey, I turn 40 this month, almost got the racing out of my system.:eyes:

I go up the schererville often too!
For exhaust I have stock res and pipe back to Hooker Max Flow mufflers
Perfect amount of noise IMO

I deleted the mufflers and kept the resonator. :burn:

Sounds mean but kinda drones a little under load.

I'll shoot some video after we get the snow out of here.

The cops and ricers never bother us, either. I think it's because they don't know what the car is, as I've totally debadged it, except for the gold bowtie on the decklid.
