Saw this today on NHRA's site. Was lucky enough to have met Mr. Lingenfelter several times out at the Nats. @ HRP. He was gracious enough to lend me some of his time, answer some questions, take a couple pics, and sign a couple autographs for me. He was a great ambassador for motor sports, made some things people never seen or even thought of before, and will be remembered for a long time to come.
Rest in Peace John.

I hoped that he would pull out, but I guess it was not to be. I have a lot of respect for this man. He was always rasing the bar for everyone else. I know the performance community will miss him but I am sure that it will not be nearly as much as his family. I idiolized this man growing up, its like I have lost a friend that I never met.

Oh man....I really can't believe this. John has made our hobby what it is! Without LPE, modern day fuel injection would still be stuck in the TBI days. I wish his family the best and I hope they continue his work and don't let all his hard work go to waste. As long as performace is in the mind of the driver, LPE will also live in the memories as well as under the hoods!

John was definately a pioneer in drag racing, both the late models and in competition eliminator where I grew up watching him set record after record in A/Dragster. I hope heaven has an all-concrete 1/4 mile for you John, you will be missed!
