My vote is for the EWP. 4 yrs running and the improved gas mileage has probably shaved a good chunk the initial cost. If it lasts a couple more years I'll consider it a break even or better purchase. (20,000 miles and no issues) Just guess-estimated the actually savings and its only about 200 so far, so I guess its gong to be about 8 more years before I break even. Oh well, I still like it and love how the car revs more freely with less load on the motor. Runs cooler on the street, especially in those times I've been caught in bumper to bumper traffic due to construction. Unlike many people saying they can't maintain cool temps at High RPMS, I must disagree. My car has seen 200 mph quite a few times, and I go out and run with my friends. Never once has the car ran any hotter. Always a nice consistent 167 to 169 when cruising, and I did see 180 on an extended run with sustained high rpms. Best example, 100* day and stuck in traffic due to construction. A/C on full blast and sitting for over 30 mins, car heated to 190 a couple times and then went right back to 167. Pretty good IMO.

For example springing for a more expensive set of heads over a budget set will get you significantly better hp gains than the 5-10 hp you will get from an EWP. Or $600 for a sticky set of tires, suspension mods, or drag shocks are all in the price range of an EWP and IMO get you much more bang for the buck.
Since we spend 90 percent of the time driving in the 2-3000 rpm range - I might be mistaken - but don't think that's where the 5-10 hp gain is. The gain is at the top end.
BTW - I had an EWP and sold it at 50 percent off and used it for other mods that were more cost effective. + I doubt it would have lasted 100 - 150 k miles or more like a mechanical pump will.
I replaced it with an autozone with lifetime warranty. I get 565 to the rear wheel so 5 hp isn't a big deal.
In short - use your current pump or get a new mechanical pump and use the money for other things.
