Default Instrument panel ?

I don't know if this is in the right section.
I have an 02 z28 that a few needles are broken or mis reading on my instrument panel after new gauge overlay install. I have an extra instrument panel out of a 98 z28. Will everything work fine if I put the 98 in the 02? Someone local told me there was a few small diffrences.

Some cars have to be reprogramed to run rite after the cluster change, but most older ones you can turn the key on for 10-15 mins and they will reprogram themselves

The needles are not a biggie. How are the gauges mis-reading? Did you just not verify the location of the needles before disassembly?

If you run your car to normal operating temp. then pull it apart, you just need to get it to operating temp. again and pop the needles back on. Just make sure you noted (I take pictures) where the needles were before you took them off.

And no, the '98 cluster wont work. 6LE's got one and the swap doesn't work. And his '98 wont run without a cluster, but my '01 will.

Just to reiterate, the needles are the only thing you can swap over...

Use a 1998 in a 1999+ and vice versa you get smoke.

I had a buddy do it for me awhile back while doing alot of other work on the car and the bottom 4 gauges won't even work and the speedometer is 8mph off, and sticks right at 55-56 mph and won't go further. I was going to put this cluster in and order 6le gauge overlays in the next couple of weeks. I guess I'll have to get a different cluster now.
