Just remove your side moldings, they're stupid. It looks a lot cleaner with them gone too. The only reason we have side moldings are to prevent damage to our doors when others parked next to us hit our cars w/ their doors; it's supposed to hit the side molding and stop it from getting your entire door at once.... you can simply make sure this never happens by parking further away from ppl when pulling into a parking lot.

I always park far away from other cars and yet someone always parks right beside me. I think the OP is talking about the TRANS AM letters on the side I'd just put a decal on it; its easy just make sure the surface is clean and take your time. You can also spray a little bit of soapy water or window tint fluid on the back of the letters so you can move them round before they're stuck for good.

havent done either of your suggestions, but like Jam said, id remove them. im glad i did. So much cleaner

and the whole idea of them stopping another car door from hitting you is a myth. it just doesn't work out like that. go park next to some other car and test it out. for them to work, the farthest end point of the other car would have to be the EXACT height of your moldings for them to work... odds of that happening? every car has different dimensions/heights, so the moldings do not really do anything to prevent damage. (i had to tell myself all of this to convince myself to finally remove my own)

oh, didnt even realize he was talikng about the letters. thought he was asking about the door moldings. id highly recommend www.EmblemPros.com for the overlays. TOP quality stuff from them. if you chose to remove the letters before doing the new letters, just use some masking tape to make a box around the stock letters so you know exactly where to put the new ones, so they line up right.

or like transambroli said, its not too hard to paint them, or apply the vinyl decals

Put a decal on them, then make your decision.

i took them off to paint for sure... and I didn't mark where they were (beginners mistake) ...so I just looked at pictures ...and got blue painters tape and did it up that way.

I would just get overlays because double side taping them back on straight and spaced right is a pita.

Decals. I like the look better vs paint. I guess because I've seen too many cheaply done paint jobs.

If you use a little water when putting on the decals they are not hard to get straight at all. I have done quite a few, and all looked great. I have stainless ones on my SOM car and decals on the others.

so when you use soap and water to get them straight do you have to squeege it out like tint or just let them dry there

I just use water...no soap (it tends to mess up the sticky on some of them), and once in place use a heat gun on low to dry them. A squeege will just move them around since they are so small.

Has anyone just used the trans am overlay stickers instead of the actual molding (get rid of the moldings and just lay the stickers down)? I was wondering how that looks.
