Default WHat tire is better for a a4 car?

I have heard several things but lets hear what the big racers have to say about this.

Why is the tire you chose better than the rest?

How much of a difference can that tire make over the next at the track? Especially off of the line.

Any proven data to show which one is better. 60ft timeslips or video with slips.

you are going to probably have to add a little more info about your goals and your combo. overall, the m/t, hoosier, goodyear (new) drag radials will work better if your suspension is right in an A4 car.

Im just wondering I had heard that some are better than others buy how and why. Lets say its a average weight car with full suspesion or even just the tq arm and lcas, with strange shocks/springs up front. Lets even just say 4-500 hp.

I run Hoosier DR and they do very well street/track. I drive them everyday and they cut good 60's at the track

No, you are running an ET STREET RADIAL. ET Streets are different.

^^^ he's right. There are 2 MT streets. One is a Street Radial one is a Street. The Street is a bias ply slick more or less.

My Trans Am was 470rwhp n/a with a fabbed 9", 4.10s, and full suspension. I was running 26" ET streets (bias ply) and was happy with them. I just picked up another car thought with brand new 30" Hoosier drag radial on the back so im anxious to see how they perform but ill likely step to a 28" ET Street again.

m/t radials all day. 400-500 hp ( assuming crank and not rwhp) is not much for any of those tires. my junk has gone plenty of 1.3 60' and there are guys thave have gone 1.2 and even a few high teens.

you are still being very vague about your car. i assume you are doing that on purpse.

Nope, im not being vague on my car. I could have sworn I read somewhere that a drag radial IS the best tire for a a4 car, No matter how much power the car is making. But im not sure that was true or I read what I did. Thats why im asking everyone here and trying to see what really is the best!

What you read is a few cars that have put up a real # on a Drag Radial which has come a long way in the past few years. But what you do not read are the same guys their blown runs. A Drag radial (regardless of Mfg.) cannot recover enough to make a difference in a race. If you spin, your done.

A Slick on the other hand has give and can recover after a blown launch.

If given a choice and depending on engine combo, race weight, and drive line. I would opt for a Slick first.

The cars that I see doing consistantly well on a DR is a Turbo car and to a lesser degree Blowers, but anything N/A or Nitrous needs the hit and needs to leave as hard as they can and thats when the Successful runs vs Blown Runs become apparent.

I myself ran a Nitto and a M/T DR and the M/T was fun to run with but I got my best time on a 26" tall ET Drag. Go fig for a m6 car making 385 rwhp that weighs nearly 4,000.

Like said a ET street is like a ET Drag but has different compounds and more cords and the stiffness is there too. A Street "Cheater" slick if you will. DOT Approved.
