Default Could you cause damage running no filter?

I was thinking about going to the track the next time and taking off my paper filter and just running through the lid with no filter. What do you guys think about this?

I always pull my filter when at the track and have notoriously picked up about 1 mph by doing so. I don't see anything wrong with removing the filter at the track to make some passes then re-installing it before you drive home.

I hardly noticed a change it ET, less than a tenth I know that I have a K&N so chances are you will see greater gains than I did considering you still have a paper filter in there.

I experimented with removing the filter on my car on my old setup (medium sized cam-only), however I consistently lost MPH.

For a few passes down the track you will be fine. Just dont forget to put it back in.

I always stretched pantyhose around the filter tray when I took mine out. Figured it would stop anything big from going through.

i have a friend that started to have misfires after a couple of runs without the filter. A bag had been sucked in and was stuck on the maf. we got most of it out but im sure pieces of it made it thru. i dont think its worth it.
