Alpine IDA-X305S should work well for you if you don't mind not having a CD player.

I have the forerunner of the X305 (the IDA-X100) in my Formula and in my 1996 V6 Firebird before that. I can't say how it works with aftermarket amps and other equipment, as it is driving the rest of the factory Monsoon system. Mine (and likely the 305S as well) has 3 sets of preamp outputs for front, rear, and sub, and it also has a remote turn-on for an amp or a power antenna. I believe the preamp outputs are 2V, not 4V though. You can get a module that can boost the power to 4V though I think, but I could be wrong.

----EDIT----

Another nice feature of the IDA-X305S is that if you have the Pandora app on your iPhone (which is free), the 305S can play and control the Pandora app on the iPhone.

Question about the Alpine IDA 305S Is the a way to illuminate it red instead of blue?

Found the answer, Does anyone have a picture of it installed in a T/A or Camaro?

Also look at humount.com for a head unit mount makes it nice. I went with pioneer for a headunit interface with ipod and bluetooth built in. The unit works really nice. I have one amps for front and rear and one amp for two 12" subs in a vert.

I'm in the process of replacing my factory HU in my 1998 Trans Am ws6 coupe. I've purchased a Alpine iDA-X305s but need help with Which Scosche wiring harness, Antenna Kit, Low Cost Head Unit mount to keep as close to factory look. In addition, can I wire the Alpine to use the existing factory amp in the rear. Any details for installation steps would be much appreciated.

The wiring kit is for GM 1988 and up 21 pin. Once you attach that to your new head unit wiring, it will plug into the factory harness and work just like a factory head unit (whether you have Monsoon or not).

The antenna adapter is a small piece that allows you to connect the factory antenna cable to the aftermarket HU. This is because aftermarket HUs use a standard Motorola antenna plug but GM antennas have a smaller version of the same type of plug. It's available from most auto parts stores or even WalMart.

There is no mount kit that will make any single DIN HU look like factory in the 1.5 DIN opening. The humount is probably the best looking but it's much more expensive than Metra or Scosche.
