LS7 Clutch&Flywheel-Expected Changes?
My stock 99 clutch is slipping at the top of second, third and fourth gear, the car has only 24K miles and I'm pretty shocked.
After some reading, I'd like to go with the popular LS7 clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. What changes could I expect, any negative side effects at all?

Some people have used a shim and others haven't
I've had two LS7 clutch setups in two different cars and never used a spacer. It releases low at first but after a few hundred miles it's back to the stock release point

Im running thw LS7 set up in my 01 SS for 3+ now it a good dd clutch and minor track use. Only down side to it I feel is that is weighs alot more then the stock and other aftermarket clutch witch in return eats up some hp at the wheels, again not a big deal if you mainly just dd your car but for more strip use I would go with something else . Also the spacer does help.

I just ordered mine from scoggin with the RAM lightweight flywheel. So I hope that makes up for the differance in weight.

The LS7 clutch is a great clutch for the money. I've had mine in for 7K with every type of driving possible.
As far as the heavier flywheel, that's not a big deal. It actually makes the car easier to drive in real world daily driver situations. Uphill ... stop and go traffic ... etc.
The problem most have with the low peddle syndrom is the varying dimensions in length that exist between the hydraulics. You can do a search regarding this problem. One of our members who is also a vendor GEN414 did a write-up about this problem.
I initially had the lower peddle issues with the LS7 clutch and solved them with the Tick m/c.
With all the above said, If you are looking to do a lot of dragracing or hardroad racing than this clutch probably isn't for you... For an occasional launch, spirited driving, daily driving, long trips... this cluth is for you.
Whenever my current LS7 clutch wears out, I will install another.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I replaced the pilot bearing. It was a pain to get out of the crank, took forever using a pilot bearing puller. Slide hammer would have probably worked better. I installed a new one for an LS1, but one for an LS7 is most likely the same anyway.
