Default What RPM to launch T56 at the track?

My 89 has a Trex cammed 6.0 with the 6 speed, 4.30 gears on 26x11.5x16s and i launched at 5100 an bogged a touch and got a 1.9 60 foot, some are telling me too launch at 6000 but i was scared of breaking the trans, now that 2nd gear is gone from playing on the street i will be going back to the track when i get the trans rebuilt and i need to know what you guys launch at. I have a centerforce DFX clutch if it matters.

If you have a good driveshaft, a good torque arm, and something better than a 10 bolt with sticky tires I'd lauch it off the rev limiter....

Gonna have to get a real DS....that stocker becomes the weak toothpick after you get a good clutch and rearend. Once you get those....like Jonathan said....off the limiter!

Mine was a trans from SSI 4a and I have a 12 bolt also(moser). On a good track I launch at 6000. a poor track around 4500. But depends on my tires, weather etc. I disconnect my swaybar for the track and loosen my shock settings for the track. If it bogs on launch I hit it harder next round. As close to same spot I launched the round before.

And a skatter (sp?) shield too!

OP, Im assuming your car weighs much less than a fully optioned f-body so that should help it stay alive for a while.

No man....that stock DS will snap with ease. It will be ok on the street, but not at the track with a serious launch with a decent 60ft. Or making any power.

12 bolt is now a weak link too, if you race alot, and launch high, it's not going to last.

I launch at 6500, and cut consistant 1.42-1.44's, but blew up the 12 bolt 3 times... Nine inch stays quiet and takes the abuse like a champ.

12 bolts are fine in auto's for the most part, and 6 speeds that dont race alot.

The trans however, will take alot of abuse, although I did twist an input shaft.

That is true....damn TQ. arm mounts the same way, most end up ripping gears out like a 10 bolt.

i launch at 5500 -6000, have a moser 12 bolt and cut 1.4s on a 4.10 gear, havent broke the rear yet. but definatly a new ds. i run a monster clutch so i dont know anything about how well the centerforces are holding on high rpm launches

Alright, so i should put it off till i get a DS, that sucks since it is not in my immediate budget, building 2 cars really hinders the cash flow...dammit.

Yeah my Nitto DRs only held a 4000rpm launch or so on motor at the track a month or two ago. Once I get some QTPs its 6000 on the 150 hit and let it ride.

26" tires and a 4.30 gear should put your launch rpm around 6000-6500 rpm
