Default 243 heads are they the same all years?

Hey guys are 243 heads, are they the same on all years...The reason I ask is because my 08 Avalanche has them on a 5.3 engine, are they the same? thanks.

Pretty much the same casting but they don't have the light weight valves like the Ls6 243s.

I think you're talking about the sodium filled valves.

no i saw a post from some1 saying if there a V mark above one of the exhaust ports its the better "revised" casting. being a 08 you should be well within this margin.

while you don't have the lighter valves they don't make much difference on a stock 5.3 or LS1 setup. but can be easily installed

Yeah sodium filled exhaust and hollow intake. They are lighter then the non Ls6 243 valves.

The casting mark is more of a triangle. My 243s that came from a 06 Ls4 Gxp have these casting marks. They still have the smaller combustion chamber and they flow better then the Ls1 heads. More compression and better flow will make a difference.

i might have said this wrong i was specifically talking about the lighter weight valves not the heads.

thanks for the input...so a 243 is a 243 all the time. except for the light with valves in the ls6 243 heads. but the years makes no different in the camber size?

They say the ones w/ the triangle under the spark plug hole are good for 6-10 hp more because they are semi-permament mold casting but i have seen that same triangle on 241's also.
