Stock radio connections
Does anyone know if the stock Monsoon has any input connections? I'm looking for either RCA's or maybe some connector off the CD chager hookup that will give me inputs to wire in an Ipod. If not I will do an FM mod.
Thanks, Justin
Thanks, Justin

As far as I know they do...I know they have an auxilliary button on the front, which all of them have because I believe they use this to hook in a 6 disc changer, so you should be able to use that same input for your ipod. Somebody correct me if Im wrong.

I have an '02 SS with all stock stereo stuff (including the 12-disc changer) and I'd like to be able to hook up the ipod.
I've searched a few threads, but haven't found a definitive answer on this.
Thanks!

Can I hook up the ipod INSTEAD of the cd changer? I have no idea how the CD changer outputs to the head unit - does it work by RCA audio cables?

Ummm. GM would never make it that easy. No RCA's or any other standard interface, that I know of.
There MAY be adaptor kits to use the changer inputs. That is IF it is even possible to interface a 3rd party device with it.
I wish you luck.

There are a number of different adapters that will allow connecting an auxiliary source (satellite radio, iPod, etc.) using the CD changer port on the back of the stock radio. The most popular one is the GM9-AUX by PIE. On 01 and 02 models you can keep your stock 12-disc changer and still plug in the auxiliary source. On earlier models you have to disconnect the changer in order to use the auxiliary input because the head units weren't capable of controlling more than one external source.
There are also a few iPod specific adapters that go beyond just providing auxiliary input. These adapters are generally more expensive but they have more features. They include such features as power to recharge the iPod's battery and the ability to use the radio and steering wheel controls to change tracks. PIE makes the ipod2car adapter and Neo Car Audio makes their Neo iOn.

The PAC adapter requires you to have the CD changer hooked up and working in order to get the AUX inputs to work. The latest one has 2 sets of RCA inputs and a toggle switch to switch between them. The problem is I don't have a CD changer and would need it to have the aux inputs. I'll probably have to go with an FM modulator since I dont' really want or need a changer.

I bought this one(from this seller) and it works perfectly. You need the AB-GM9 harness which he includes.

Try this web page for a description: http://peripheralelectronics.com/web/aux2car.asp. They don't sell online but there is a dealer locator on their site.

I know it might be kind of pointless to have the CD changer when you have the iPod, but it would be nice to be able to use both if you needed . . .
