1 of 2 things. connections inside the box or you've got a broken connection in the coil that keeps losing contact. The second "seems" unlikely as teh movement of a sub along with air flow, vibration, ect ... would lead one to believe that it it was just barely making contact that would cause it to break contact right away. of course the same could be said for the contacts inside the box

Could be a few things
1. The physical connection where the wire(or spade) meets the terminal on the sub.
2. The tensile could be cut or sliced.
3. The voice coil itself is on its way out.
4. The terminals are grounding out on the basket of the sub.
I would check to make sure the wires going to the terminal are good and tight.
You might even wrap them in shrink or electrical tape to ensure that they aren’t grounding.
