ill be buying new tires soon as well and was planning on getting 275/40/17 nt05's on all four. from what ive heard they are great tires. but i only drive my car on weekends and nice weather. is it a DD? if so you might want to go with something more like the nt555r. a couple of guys i know have em and say they are great

I have NT05's (not the drag radial) and love them. They handle great on the street and are pretty sticky for a street tire. I haven't been to the track or driven in the rain yet though.

My friend has the NT05r's on his H/C Stalled TA and he love's them. Only suspension he has is LCA's and he said they work good in the rain. In my opinion they are an all around better tire than M/T ET Street's Radials (I'm getting crap for this) because they are cheaper, they are better in the rain, don't wear down as fast, and the are suppose to hook better and if they don't it's not by much.. I have a 4k stall and LT header's and stalling up to 2k off the line my 555r's are working great and hook off the line but my suspension unload's right after (stock suspension's fault).

EDIT: If it's you're DD and you don't have a H/C car or have a M6 then NT05r's are most likely overkill. 555r's is all you need because they last longer, hook good once hot, and rain is no problem unless they have no tread (like any tire).

yeah i bought the car with a 2k stall and i cant get any traction with the falkens that are on it right now. but i want to beat my friend in his cobra cuz he thinks he's hot stuff and im pretty sure a good set of tires that will hook will do the trick.

Yeah 555r's all the way. When I was stock, street tire were crappy and if they did hook off the line then second gear was dancing to the right on the track. Then with Full exhaust only, I put the 555r's on not to much later after and didn't even have to heat them up. Sense you have a 2k stall it's not going to hit as hard as my 4k so I know that they will work perfectly fine and it being a DD make's the Safety to Performance ratio go to 555r's. If it's still you're DD and you get a bigger cam or/and head's or bigger converter (you should) and you feel like the 555r's aren't doing good then it's time for suspension mod's. That's what happen to me... If you have any more question you need answer's too them, then ask because don't mind telling.

I've got the regular NT05's and I love em.. 100% happy with em. heads and cam setup and they're plenty sticky. Haven't been to the track with em yet, but I've done a couple stop light launches and 2nd and third gear stabs and they don't brake loose. Not a DD car, I also just drive on the weekends, but I have driven in the light rain with them and on wet roads. Just be careful with anything that does not rate wet traction or any tire that is not designed for all-weather traction. They're fine, but you just gotta be careful and avoid the highway and standing water.

I got em in 315/35/17s. I was running 325/45/17 MH racemasters but decided to save those for the track and run the nittos for DD. They hook very well, but of course they need to be slightly heated up otherwise you will be spinning em. I have a 6.0 h/c through a 9inch. i love the tread pattern! Heres a pic...

I have the NT05's in the rear of my C6 Z, and they are pretty amazing. The car can still break them loose but they are a 200% improvement over the stock goodyear supercars. One of the best tires I've ever had.

Those NT05Rs look great, I've heard nothing but good things. I think they will be my next tire instead of the MT Radials for street duty.

Quick Reply: Are the new Nitto NT05r tires any good???
