So, I need help..
As everyone knows it's winter and time for the winter builds, I can't make up my mind if I wanna do a good stock rebuild with ARP bolts and all that but stock and put it on the bottle(150 shot) or do a h/c motor. I'd do a GM847 cam IF I did a h/c set up. I like the MPG I get with my car in it's stock form, it's not technically a DD but I do drive it back and forth to work alot but I have a truck for DD duty if need be. Anybody been here? Pros and cons to both? It's not a race car, might see the track a couple times it's an M6 too. I know I'm probably leaving alot out but this is all I can think of for now. Any input is appreciated thanks.

IMHO run the stock bottom end until she starts to burn excessive oil, or the oil pressure gets weak. If it's been regularly maintained there should be no worries. You can get tons of power out of 350 cubes as has been done many times in the past. A 150 shot is typically what a lot of guys will say is the limit of the stock bottom end. I have no say in this, no personal experience with juice. Why the 847 cam? There are many better cams out there. If you pick one up real cheap then go for it, but i'd spend money elsewhere if you are paying full price.

I wanted an 847 cam, but realistically the powerband was too high for me. I had mine custom ground. It pulls hard as hell, beat my friends 403rwhp LS1 WS6 from a dig a few days ago, we let off at 105 and I had him by a fender. However mine peaks at 6400, so im not spinning the motor dangerously high

I went with LE, from what i see LE is used more on the street, AI for the track. I have no idea how well this cam performs yet. I dynoed up to 5K with 300 miles on the motor and was at 318/330 unlocked through a set of heads that doesnt flow much better than stock. But like i said if i can pull that hard on my friends 6 speed LS1 making 403/360 from a dig id say its pretty good. Im going back to dyno next month with true duals to make some real pulls. Dont get too focused on #s. A cam with a high peak doesnt always mean speed. Its how you get to the peak
