04 vs 05. Whats the "better buy"
Looking at 2 GTOs..
2004 GTO w/ 47k miles for $12,500
http://www.musclecar-evolution.com/f...ad.php?t=22971
vs.
2005 GTO w/ 83k miles for $13,500
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/2188346010.html
Big difference is miles but which would you buy and why?

I know, I have to keep in mind id eventually buy the hood/rear for the 04 so the price would balance out. Are the Ls2 motor as durable/long lasting as the ls1? Im assuming yes...

Honestly, I wouldnt buy a 2004 because of brakes, dash issues, exhaust only exits on the one side, no hood scoops and it has 50 less hp than the LS2.
I also think you can do better than the 2005 listed.
I know of a 2006 CGM Auto 17's one owner never wrecked with 56k on the ODO that I think can be purchased for 14500.
I also know of a 2004 with 29000 miles on it for 9500, rebuilt title and very sharp looking car.
Keep looking and you will find better cars for less money.

can you direct me to those cars?
Reason being is b/c ive searched everywhere and both prices seem fair. The 05 is a bit high (excellent cond. kbb value) but the car does appear mint. Is 83k concerning on an ls2 motor?

Sir you have a PM from me.
83K on a car that could have been beat to death or a car that has been cared for? That is really an open question. Lots of cars LS1 or LS2 will go way over 100K with no issues.

83k is in my opinion just too many unknown miles on a sportscar, I really have to say go with the 5.7 who knows how much power may have been lost being beaten around.

This is the same delema that I am in. I fell like you could take the 04 for less miles and money and make it as fast as a LS2. Granted the price difference is not drastic I would still go 04. Less miles FTW.
Being still new to GTOs and looking to buy one what are these dash and brake issues you mentioned?

Brakes aren't hard to fix, 05/06 conversions aren't that expensive.
As for the whole "Little motor vs. Big motor" thing. I actually think the LS1 is a better motor than the LS2, there was actually a factory recall about the LS2's eating oil due to shitty rings.
