Default 6.0 370 500hp?? what do u think?

Ok my ls1 decided to take a dump i had the polluter cam from tick performance in it and LOVED it!! very awesome cam IMO and i street drove it alot!! well i had a lifter stick and it trashed the cam rockers block and 1 piston.... SOOOOO i pulled the whole LS1 out and am wanting to go with a 6.0 LQ9 or LQ4 i am told that my crank out of the LS1 will fit into the new 6.0s thats my first question is what years of the lq4s can everything swap right over in to my 02 camaro from my LS1. so with that said i was just gonna get a bare block, bore it to a 370 clean my crank up a little and maybe go with a set of eagle or scat 6.125 forged rods and im not sure what pistons, im wanting high compression but still want to run 92 octane i have a friend porting a set of 799 heads for me also. i really liked the polluter cam and was wanting to use it again or something VERY close to it (liked the power and the thump) this car is not a drag car and will hardly see the strip but a few times mainly a street cruiser on the weekends its 6spd with the **** 10bolt still with 4:10s

So im really looking for close to 485-500rwhp on motor do you guys think it can be done with the set up?

LQ4 bored to 370
ported 799 heads
11.5:1 if not higher compression on 92octane pistons
forget 6.125 rods
polluter cam (242/242 dur. 610/612 lift)
LS6 intake
longtubes

ive looked on here for 6.0 builds but cant really find anything close to what im wanting to build i dont know if im just retarded or what but i cant find any good 6.0/370 build threads if you know of one but a link up and i would love to check it out

Thanks alot for any input fellas!!

You're going to need some aftermarket heads and a ported FAST intake to get close to 500rwhp on a 370 build. Why not stroke it out to a 402 or 408? Why the iron block?

well i was going to go with the iron block cuz my ls1 block is bad... and i was probably going to spray it eventually so basically just strength and i can pick an iron block up for cheaper money is kind of an issue im only going to have 1500 maybe 2000 for everything (block, pistons, rods, rockers, cam, lifters) and all the gaskets and bearings im cutting it close i know but i dont think ill have the money for a stroked 402 or 408 crank im trying to go the cheapest rout possiable without going to a 402 if i could get 480hp i would be pretty happy tho. idk i was just seeing what everybody on here thought if it could even be done or if im just shooting for the impossiable for what im working with haha

Dont think youll hit 500 but it should be stout. Im not sure why everyone makes such a big deal out of a aluminum block. For the 70 pound difference when most guys are just building street cars any ways.

Good luck

I'm doing it with a 370. You are gonna need at least L92's or LS3's to do it...I am running 11.5 to 1 with no issue's on 93. Polluter cam ain't gonna get it done with the heads you need. A wide split is the ****!

Good luck on the budget, let us know when you blow past it, I'll guess triple that budget. Then double that... I thought my stock internal ls3 would cost that much...

But like they said. On a 6.0 you'll need tea, tfs, some big name potted head, a fast intake, a better cam, you could do ls3 heads but it would take nice supporting mods to do it..

I have set of speed pro pistons and rings designed for use with stock lq4 pressed wrist connecting rods. And stock crank. I've used them many times before. Was going to use to build friend a engine but we found a l92 engine for his build.

The pistons are 4.030 bore with 1.5/1.5/3.0mm rings and wrist pins. They have coated skirts. 435$ shipped with rings. The pistons are hyperuetectic. But just as strong if not stronger than stock.

My old 370CI made 494RWHP through an automatic and still had a little left in it. I think it would have seen 500-515 to the tires if we would have tinkered with it more.

It's very do-able. Here's my old thread. You'll have to go through the pages because we did a lot of changing things up through out the build.

thanks for the build link!!! kind of a different set up as far as drag car goes but motor wise is pretty close to what im wanting to do see if i got this right you used everything that you said in your first post (370, ls6 heads, stock crank, rods, and mahle pistons, ect.) the only change u did was the victor jr. intake right? and was the 494hp all motor or was that sprayed? i read your thread but didnt see much dyno results (may have skimmed over it) badass ride tho clean and fast

Quick Reply: 6.0 370 500hp?? what do u think?
