Default Anyone ever put a sump in the stock plastic tank?

I did it on the neon and it worked great. Has this been done on an Fbody? Here's the neon job detailed out:

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f187...4-pics-590539/

I am finishing up my new build and I'm going to need around 1000hp worth of fuel on E85 (1300hp reg gas). If I could get a sump like in the above pics, I could run a -10 from the sump to a really big pump with a -10 or -8 feed to the rails and a -6 return to the sump. I've never removed my tank, since I cheated and cut a hole for the Walbro install, so I don't know what the clearance is for something like this.

:crickets:

Yeah, I've been out of town and working 16 hour days, so I missed your post. That's funny. Anyway, it worked beautiful on the neon. It was a little overkill, but I needed more fuel and who knows what I'll do with the car later. It put down 478hp/508tq on a dynojet at a conservative 26psi on E85. That's the way I drive it every day. I figure, since I'm doing this forged motor front mount turbo thing with the SS, I could use a bit more fuel...

Only choice is a sumped metal tank or dual intank pumps. I prefer a single a1000 over twins

Just talked to Hellman. He said to just cut the flange part of the sump in half to get it inside the tank. No adverse effects from this. I already purchased a metal tank to sump so I may just do this and sell it tO recoup some funds

I was sitting in a meeting today and thinking about this. I can't believe it's so simple, it was right there in front of us.

I think it would be doable. Every car I own has a metal tank, but it is a cool idea. I think cutting the flange in half would work just the same.

Well, I can tell you it works awesome in the neon. I can run that thing dry and I get no fuel starvation issues. The external pump (bosch 044) whines a bit when the tank gets low and I go around corners or stop fast, but under acceleration, all the fuel goes right to the sump.

I just came to this thread to suggest this... since its just pressure on a gasket theres no reason it wont work.

It's not an exact fit but I think I can trim on it some and make it work. You Ottawa have a completely flat area. I'll update after the weekend
