Default Tick Performance Polluter H/C LS1 Camaro

Mods in sig. From all the research and reading my car put down about what I expected. It is not what I wanted but with my supporting mods it's what it should be. 434/397 SAE. My LT1 style intake with autozone spectre cone filter is robbing an easy 20 RWHP. I'm in the process of adding a LS1 lid under my stock hood so that should put me around 450 which is what I wanted.

The car has quite a bit of surging and bucking which the tuner said it would do. He said they had trouble tuning with the FIC injectors I had. I don't lug around 1500 rpms anyway but it is a PITA when starting off from a stop. I hope ditching my 3.23 gears for 4.11's will help that though. I also went with solid motor mounts and it makes me not want to even drive the car.

I only banged the gears twice so far when I was on the highway and holy hell its a beast. Going from bolt on to this is unbelievable. The cam pulls super hard and doesn't quit. I'm going to ditch the SLP Loudmouth for something quite so I can actually go above 3k RPMs on the street.

Thanks to the folks at Tick for helping me out and answering all my questions. With a lid and 92/92 460+ easy out of this setup.

Yeah. I bought it off a guy on here that had a LS1 swapped car. I was never thinking of it eating horsepower until I dropped it off at the shop. The guy that tuned it popped the hood and first thing he said was "that's 20hp right there". After reading on here from lid swaps I knew he was right.

The 3.23 gear is making it lug hard at low rpm... tuning that is going to be a real bitch... putting the 4.10 or even a 4.30 gear in the car would make a BIG difference IMO. Putting a regular lid on the car will for sure help alot.. that thing you have on there is a perfect example of one more reason that the ltjunk's never made any power LOL.

Nice looking curve on the sheet, you get that intake and the gear issue taken care of and the car should be strong.

Glad you are happy with the results!! Get the intake restriction taken care of and see how it responds then.

With a better induction I could see you making more power. 20whp might be optimistic but anything is possible.

Post up your results when you switch, I'm curious to see how bad that is hurting I use the run the same setup but did too many mods at once to see how much it actually helped.

What injectors are in it? Might want to find a new tuner if its surging and bucking terribly.
Also, I agree with what the others have said- get some gear under there!

I have seen a 20 rwhp from changing to a lid over a similar set up like yours. As far as the gears go i would go with a 4.30 if you have a 12 bolt but if you are still on a 10 bolt stay with the 4.10's. congrats

I think your going to be disappointed if your expecting a 20rwhp gain when you switch to a LS1 Lid setup. 4.10s will be a night & day difference compared to your 3.23s but the 4.10s will show a rwhp loss on the dyno. Ive always read 5-10 rwhp loss.

Well you would be wrong. I have seen a MS3 cam only car go from 385 rwhp to 415 rwhp with the kit that has two k&n filters on it to an slp air lid set up. Same day, never pulled off the dyno. Never would have believed it until we saw it.

It's more that filter then the pipe... pipe size isn't helping either though.

I have seen 10 rwhp with pre t/b intake changes... but never any more then that. But that thing, I can surly see it making at least 10, possibly more.

Make sure you update this thread with the new numbers from the lid swap. There's a reason a lot of LT1 guys go to the LS1 lid.

I will update when its complete. Not sure if I want to try a different dyno or not. Probably will run the same one though.

back to back it with the change.... regardless what dyno you go to. That's the only way to see it.
