Off-Road Y-Pipe for oem manifolds pros and cons

Off-Road Y-Pipe for oem manifolds pros and cons
I don't want to install headers until I'm ready for an engine rebuild or swap. With that said, I would like to ditch the factory Y and go with an off-road. The remainder of the exhaust piping is stock with the exception of a Dynomax Bullet (sounds great!) in place of the factory muffler.
CONS: exhaust smell, potential fines/tickets (unlikely in FL), rear O2's would need to be tuned out, louder.
PROS: cheap(er), louder, more hp, can resell it later.
Am I missing anything? Expect hp gain? Which vendor/s here sells them? Lastly, anyone in the Gainesville FL area wanting to sell theirs? I'll drive an hour or so to pick it up.

Wifie has me on a tight budget, so I'd prefer to go this route for now. Same with my cat back. I kept the factory piping, and just had a Dynomax Bullet installed all for less than a hundred bucks. Maybe a few hp less than a full cat back, but waaay cheaper.

I was referring to doing the cat gut project yourself versus buying a y pipe from somewhere. I just use a sawzall to cut the pipe infront of the cat and a large screwdriver to breakup the bricks then dump them out and a mig to weld the pipes bact to the front of the cats. Looks almost factory except the small weld bead at the front of the cats. Free sound but no hp I noticed. Went with lt's and havent looked back...

Thats kinda iffy to me. I had mods in sig and went to td's and actually was slower. I lost alot of torque down low. Went back to single 3in over the axle factory type setup and felt better. Mani's have a bottle neck at the flange that no ammount of bigger exhaust will fix after the fact. Id just do headers if anything.

btw, I like your mods, definitely a great path for bang-for-the-buck. All you need now is a cam upgrade and you should be pushing around 400whp, right?

with no tune the car lost 2 mph and 8 mpg by removing air/egr and swapping the stock y for an ory. not sure what a tune will do, i hope to find out soon. car was all stock except for lid and weld in flowmaster.
edit: the weirdest thing i noticed is that the 1/8 mph is down 6, but the 1/4 is only down 2...just something i noticed. the car consistently backhalves 27-28 mph now where it only went 24ish before. not sure what that's all about. it still feels just as "torquey" as it did with the factory y.

ws6 store has a **** load of them. i most likely will buy one or just have one made with a flowmaster merge. also thinking about putting in some electric cutouts aswell. i am going for a super stealth mode setup. should be makin over 390rwhp through stock manifolds easy. plus a little hidden laughing gas setup to put me in the 550rwhp range. people wont know a thing if they check out my car and neither will the police or smog guys here in **** California.
