Default EFI24X conversion

Who has done a conversion on their 1994 fbody w/4L60e? What changes or mods have to be done to the trans. Really thinking about doing this conversion. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So what you're saying is a new trans is required for a 94 fbody to make the conversion?

I've been thinking about his conversion for a while now. And since my opti just took ****, I mind as well. I found out also that the optical sensor of the optispark is the one that goes out, rather than the rotor assembly. This happened from the last two previous gm optispark I've replaced.

Get d-money to bless your optispark before you put it in the car and it'll work for 400k miles at a continuous 9500+ rpm. I heard the comp eliminator guys are using optical sensors in their junk now, needed to get rid of those unreliable crank triggers

Well, heres another question. Who here, still use the ol' optispark, and shifts it at 6800-7000 rpm with no hiccups? And what brand opti are you using?

I have been looking at the Delteq.com they use a Northstar system, I too am looking at options, i even have the machining done on my manifold to go Dizzy but like this option better. friend of mine went FAST XFi and XiM boxes that completely deletes the need of a opti. look into em. tons of options out there. F"@k Opti's. wonder who the Engineering hero was at GM that got the pat on the back for this junk, nice idea but wrong location and not heavy duty enough.

the XFi,XiM boxes are on a 94 with a 4L60E, blackmagic on the utahmusclecars.com site might be on here too under a different name. I'll try and hit him up and see how his is running and what all it took.

In the middle of doing this install myself. Already run the XFI but the opti took a dump (sensor) so I went FAST crank trigger, LS2 coil bracket kit from 24x EFI and the XIM w/ a custom built harness from Brian Macy of Horsepower Connections. Hopefully I'll be done by the end of the month and see what happens.

I have a 94 m6 Z28 with a new all forged 383 with the EFI 24x conversion and the new setup is going into the car next weekend, I also brought their new engine wiring harness, coil bracket mounts, the whole works. I can let you know how everything is working once I get everything installed and running.

I've been spinning an MSD opti to 7k+ since late 2006 when they first came out. It's gutted and uses one of my cam sync setups for my DFI. As far as I'm concerned they're solid units except for the optical sensor. When I gutted mine, I dissected the optical stuff and the quality was obviously less than a mitsubishi sensor and didn't really scream reliable to me. How far out are you on doing this stuff?

Debating whether to just get another opti or something better. I'm also ready to order the 24xLs conversion, but I'm not in the position to buy a new trans. My built 4L60E works for me.
