what to do about a heat shield for trans?
My heat shield is all but dissolved and busted to bits, and I can't seem to find one to purchase, so I was thinking about getting peel n seal from lowes and putting a layer or two through my transmission hump area to help keep heat out of the car. Do you guys think it would work?

Mine did the same thing. It got wrecked when I tried taking the shortcut of not dropping my catback to lower the transmission enough to have working room when installing my shifter. It's a wrinkled, torn mess under there, and I still ended up dropping the front of my exhaust. I would like to replace it if I ever drop the tranny for anything. I suppose anything that can stand the heat and has a strong adhesive to handle the abuse from the road would work though.

Just remember you need a good foundation for that.
Peel all the old junk off, scrub it up, degrease it, and make sure it's all clean so that adhesive has something to adhere to properly, instead of junk and dirt and debris.
Just make sure whatever you put under there, get the highest heat rating you can. Over engineer, instead of replacing it again sooner than later.

I've seen a couple of guys that part out CTS-Vs and sell misc parts on ebay. Here's one I saw earlier today:

From the bottom of his auctions:

Peel and seal is awesome but don't put it near high heat. I use it on the interior of some of the cars I have built. I have put it on the inside of the roof and had no issues. I would look for a used heat shield

I would use something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/DEI-050501-Flo...ei+heat+shield
There's a larger version of that sheet too, but I didn't search too hard for it.

I may use truck bed liner.
