94 Z28, Is it a sin to modify (see photo)
Long story, but the short version is, sold the car 16 years ago, buyer babied the car, engine hydro-locked last year from a bum head gasket, for $1000 it is now mine again. Car is perfect not a scratch, wheels are perfect (though tires are dry-rotted), The paint is original and looks new except for the plastic bumpers that need to be addressed. I also plan to recover the leather seats.
The rebuilt stock cube engine has internal work done, Trick heads with 1.6rr, small cam, headers but otherwise looks and sounds stock (baby Crane 227 cam), I did however have the intake, valve covers, waterpump and the alternator powder coated chrome. The trans is a new and beefed up also has a 3500 stall. The car came factory with 3.23 gears. Everything is matching numbers (if that makes at difference).
The question is...........with the Z in such great shape for a 17 year old car is it a sin to heavly modify the apperance or should I keep it looking like it came off the showroom? If I changed the exterior it would be, 18/19 higher-end wheels/tires, lowering springs, new hood, SS trunk lid (or like), and Vizage full ground effects or should I keep it looking "showroom" (with a 100hp increase over stock)? BTW, In the attached photo the engine is out.

My vote is on lightly modifying the appearance(SS hood and spoiler) and some newer GM rims. But that car looks really good the way it is. I like that color too.

Definitely build it before screwing around with the exterior. You can always buy a set of drag wheels and skinnies for the track and rock the salad shooters for the street. Both my Formulas are sporting the original 94 wheels. There's a lot I want to do with both before I'd consider dumping money into the exterior. If you have worn out tires and can't justify buying another set of 245/50R16, you can grab some correct spec offset 17" wheels and wrap them in 245/45R17.

I say just lower it, stick with some GM style wheels, then leave the rest of the exterior alone. You would be surprised at how much of a difference the stance alone can change the look of the car. Not to mention handling.

The engine was dyno'd @378 on a stand. Either way I am adding a semi-hidden nitrous kit. I say semi as it the bottle would be put in the tire compartment. A 150 shot would but me somewhere in the 450whp range which is fine by me. As for beating the C6, we'll I think that could be a task, with the new supercharger it is around 575 @ the wheels (not dyno'd yet).
Back to the Camaro, money not limited (within reason of course) what exterior mods would you do?

no ground effects, SS spoiler, either SS hood or harwood, 18" Machined Face C5 deep dish, lowering springs, and some new badges and fill ins for the berger panel

DVS no offense but I would take a SS hood over an Ultra Z hood any day.

I would do a simple drop, nice set of wheels, LT1 SS spoiler and a nice hood, call it a day. It doesn't take much to make an Lt1 Z28 look clean, simple and mean. But you can easily make it look gawdy and dated with body kits, stripes and so on. The one you posted screams dated.
