As the first firebird was built in 1967...

Can someone please tell me why the

1989 Trans Am is known as the 20th Anniversary edition
1999 Trans Am is known as the 30th Anniversary edition
and 2002 Collector Edition Trans Am (CETA) is the 35th Anniversary edition?

How'd the 20th and 30th come to be?

Agreed trans am appeared in 69 and the 2002 was just a collectors edition bc it was the last year

As was said, the first Trans Am was a '69. Also, don't forget:
1979 had a 10th Anniversary T/A
1984 had a 15th Anniversary T/A
1994 had a 25th Anniversary T/A
2004 could've had a 35th Anniv T/A :(
2009 could've had a 40th anniv T/A :(

This is correct

The Collector Edition cars were built to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Firebird

Uh, .... yeah. The 20ths and 30ths were already mentioned in the post I was responding to. I didn't think they needed a repeat mention. :D

If you attend the Trans Am Nationals, you'll see a "27th Anniversary Trans Am".....owner-created of course.

2002 trips up a lot of folks since the Camaro was a 35th Anniversary & the Trans Am was a Collector's Edition. But if you know the history of both it makes sense. It worked well for GM since both f-bodies didn't have anniversary cars on the same years except for 2002.
