Default 3500 stall users inside please. Lockup Q.

At what MPH does your verter lockup in 3rd and 4th? My GFs car locks up at 30 in drive and 40 in OD and when it does, the RPMs drop to ~1050 and the verter "shutters" like the RPM is too low and does it untill 1500 RPM and it goes away. All this is under light pedal pressure.

Any insite please.

mine does this too might be the cam tuning needs refinement.
ps. more like no tps or going down hill. I usually throw it into D to get rid of this, any type of acceleration, no problemo. even if its barely any pedal.

i do have a cam so i suspected some surging would require further tweakage

What you describe, Carl, is the same as what happens with the stock converter and 2.73s in my car. Once you're locked up, it's all the same. Maybe some tuning could help - or lower gears.

Thanks for some info guys. Im a 6 speed guy and I dont know much at all about autos. Ive talked to Mike @ Yank and hes suggested some things like pinion angle off with stock TQ arm? (didnt know you could adjust a stocker), use a shift kit, and change lockup MPH. My GF is just really worried that it will trash her tranny and its her daily driver and shes a single mom (means cant not have a car). To me, it feels like when you put a 6 speed in 6th gear at 30 MPH.

converter shudder is normal with some aftermarket converter, I had it on my vette and it was very noticable at 48 mph.

mine does that to at 40-45. then at ~60 it sounds kind of like read end whine. ~70 it shudders some more and ~80 its back to whining. the shuddering is a little unnerving but i havent had any problems yet.

Sometimes its missing a low rpm high load situations. When its idleing tap the gas and see if it rises smooth or shutters while in park. Some say if you drop the starter unbolt the converter and rotate the bolts one hole either way it helps or stops shuttering. Its pretty easy to do and worth a shot. Why will this help-nobody knows
