Default New to me BOM LS2 GTO

Tired of driving my truck to and from everywhere so I jumped on an '06 BOM GTO a local dealer had sitting on the lot. A4 with 49k miles. I know, I know; A4 lol

I have a few questions though. I want a full exhaust, gears, shift kit and stall. Anyone wanna make some recommendations? Best gear choice? Shift kit? Etc. Remember it has to remain street-friendly so no 16k stalls

Depends on on your budget for header if money is no object go stainless, either arh or kooks. Catbacks are really up to you and what tone you like. I'd do atleast a 3200 stall minimum most people do a 3600 stall for a dd. Yank, circle d, fti, or vig are all good converter companies.

Take a look at the LS 1 GTO site. They have a wealth of info on the different setups for this car. Don't be surprised though this car is not cheap to mod and the wheel hop is horendous.

All the GTO guys I know would say go with 3.91 gears. Spintech cat back with longtubes sounds sick too.

nice buy , do the stall and the converter first . It might help give you an idea as to how loud it could and will be with an exhaust , maybe do headers first or a cat back after the stall and then you can see how loud it will be .

Might sound like an odd combination, but be careful with the gears and exhaust choice you make. I say this because 3.91 gears might be a little too much for the automatic, but they can be bearable given that you have a quiet and not resonating exhaust. But if you got a loud droning exhaust it might be a little too much with those types of gears.

Or get a loud exhaust but stick with 3.73s

Kooks 1 7/8" SS LT's, kooks SS mid pipes, with spintech stainless steel 3" exhaust all the way back. 4" tips. go to youtube and listen to GTO sound bites on different exhaust tones.

awesome sound. leave the gears alone.

save up for a Maggie TVS 1900 or 2300.easy 500rwhp on 7-8lbs. 450rwtq @3000- 3500rpm.

spintech mufflers sound straight nasty
corsa is a more refined sound
magnaflow is way to quiet

the hot setup right now is kooks headers and kooks catback.

jump on the suspension fix first though, you'll thank yourself later.
new struts and mount, new rear spring, a few various bushings here and there. changes the car entirely!

and yes, gears are expensive for GTO's

Congrats the purchase. I have a BOM myself. Jump over to LS1gto to get all the info you will need. Upgrade parts are pricey for them but its all worth it.

Congrats on the BOM. I wanted one really bad, but ended up with a PBM. I loved the **** out of that car. They are great cars, but they do have some short-comings. I wouldn't worry too much about gears - factory is 3.46. I was not impressed with the bang for the buck that I got from going to 3.91's, and ended up giong back to stock. Do some suspension work, Kooks headers, a good 3200+ stall, and a good tune to get started. That might sound like a lot of stall, but its really not bad on a DD. Check with FTI and let them know how you are going to use the car, then let them reccommend one for you. For suspension mods, strut mounts, radius rod bushings, and stiffen up the rear somehow. I used drag bags and had pretty good success with them.
