Default Stock Standing Mile

I've been searching for hours now.. (I fail at searching I think)...

Does anyone know of a stock LS1 powered F-body/Corvette result from a standing mile event?

I saw that the 5th gen Camaro has done 150.3mph (maybe faster that's just the only result I found)... was curious where the LS1 powered vehicles fell...I could speculate a stock C5 would do 155ish and the Fbody at 145mph but real numbers are what I would like to see.

Anyone?

Thanks!

EDIT: I see 153 on another forum. It was in a ws6. I would think the ram air would slow the car down too.
In the 1/4 Mi the High deck spoiler does make the car slower but I have not seen data for the 1 mi.

If there are any stock 4th gens left they need to head the the Texas Mile, I'm curious myself now that you brought it up.

Is there a site that list all the standing mile locations in the country? I would like to try it without driving out to Texas or further out west.

I was going to guess 150ish before I read the replies.

The only 2 that I know of are Texas and Mojave Mile (I've been to the Mojave to watch my buddy run in his turbo Z28). But seeing as you're in TN, this info is of no help to you lol.

I would guess mid 140s for a stock LS1 F-body, maybe 5-6 mph more on a Vette due to its different cam?

Yeah, I'm going to go with anywhere from low-high 140's maybe for your average stock F-Body? That's just a wild guess, I would be pretty interested in seeing the results of a stock LS1 car myself. I'd be willing to bet that one would be hold it's own down a 1 mile strech too if it was put up against stock or close to stock EVO's/STi's, Mustang GT's etc., just the other normal street cars that you could compare one with. Would be neat if there was some kind of shootout organized for stock or close to stock cars.

Vette's would have more to do with weight and Drag Coefficent. FRC and Z06's were even lighter then regular Targa Top C5's and The LS6 equipped (see z06) had better heads and cam, as well as the MN12 trans which had different trans ratios.

Seach the Maxton Mile here in NC sponsored by the East Coast Timing Assn. The only thing that has kept me from running is their roll bar rule..... I understand Texas has no rule....

I have always been curious about this question. I've always wanted to know what it could do in the mile and/or how long it actually takes to get to 'top speed'
And the easiest way to find out (whether it's accurate or not) is to do the standing mile on Forza 3
I got 147mph @ 35.333s in a stock 2002 Camaro SS.

Surely it's not too far off the real thing?

Thats funny as since if your going 130+ no 4 point bar is going to save your *** lol.

Top speed is well over a mile (I would say 2 for sure).. from a roll you can get there pretty quick but not the same thing as the standing mile.

I would definately say the C5s advantage would be aeros and weight, i'm certainly not down on power compared to a C5.

Hey SOMbitch, so Maxton requires you to have a rollbar? Me and my buddies were wanting to go down there for the October run. But if they have a rollbar rule - thats out of the question....

Yeah it is $100 to join ECTA last I looked and $20 to get a set of rules. Your car has to pass inspection and then you you qualify at graduated speeds until you hit unlimited IIRC. Without a rollbar I think you are allowed 135mph. They are pretty strict and you get one warning before they kick you off the trackfrom what I have seen.....

A stock ls1 Camaro should go 150 +/- I would think.

If everyone is that curious, I have a rock stock 00' Z-28 A4 I would be happy to try at the Texas mile. All I need is for someone to pay for my trip lol. I even have recent dyno sheets and 1/4 mile times. Oh, my car does have a slowmaster on it.

What is the cost? I assume you need travel expenses?

Default cost

The cost to get on the waiting list is $260a (nonrefundable) and it would cost me about $100 in fuel. I am close to houston so it is about 160 miles. The event is october 21-23. Soon after that I will start tuning and doing free and cheap mods. I have HP tuners and I am chomping at the bit but still have some learning to do.

I recall reading an article (*shootout) one time and a stock ws6 attained a few clicks over 150mph in the standing mile. It lost out compared to some of the other cars they ran, however the competition was stiff in this shootout iirc. Wish I could remember which article that was in now

Good idea, except they rate the hp at 325hp like it says its rated at and everyone knows its underated in real life.

If you find it please post up. I'll dig around and see if I can find anything.
