Centerforce, Spec, or Ram???
#1
Hi i need a clutch for my 2000 SS Camaro and i think ive narrowed it down to a SPEC, a Centerforce DF 12", and a Ram HD. My car is almost stock right now but eventually i plan on building a 450-500hp motor for it. BUT it will still be a DD so i need it to have good street driveability. Im trying to stay on the cheaper side of things and i was hoping some people could give opinions/reviews on these 3 and maybe anything else you recommend. Thank You.
anyone got any experience with these?

2000SS, I am sure that we have a kit to meet your needs. I know you are looking for a DD friendly kit and even with 500hp our Stage 1 would be a good option. You could also go with a Stage 2 or 2+ as these still provide great drivability and more than enough capacity. I have provided a link to our listings for your SS below (look at the second set of parts listed). Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help you. Thanks!!

Yes, it can be used with a stock flywheel that is in good shape and that has not had more than .015" removed during machining. The kit uses a 12" disc. As mentioned, choosing the proper stage will impact the drivability but Stage 1-2+ will be fine for your needs. None of these are full-puck discs. The stage 2+ uses Kevlar on one side and 6-pucks on the other but this kit is still very smooth. I daily drive a 2+ myself, 60+ miles each day, and it is butter smooth!

I've had the centerforce dual friction in mine for 45,000 miles without a hiccup until now it's slipping badly. But I never drive my car very nice it's either parked or being beaten on for what I paid for the centerforce I loved the clutch. But I've heard many people have had bad experiences with it. Personally I'm going with a monster clutch for my next one to try them out. But I have no complaints about the centerforce.

Yes, stay away from z06 clutches. If you have a strong motor, good tires, the z 06 will not hold up. I have a centerforce in mine with no problems yet, and I have 450 HP at least, and have drag raced it with Mickey Thompsons. And unlike a super ram clutch car (that ate a Z06 clutch) ,which was hard to get rolling smoothly, mine feels very tame in comparison, and it is daily driveable.
