Default 228R Shift Point?

I have a 2001 M6, Stock bottom end (stock rod bolts too). Have Long Tubes, ORY, Catback, Ram Air Lid, HPTuners self tuned, other misc things like suspension. I'm installing 799 heads, and a TSP 228R cam with PAC .600 springs over the next couple days.

I was wondering, what RPM should I be shifting at? Right now my rev limiter is set at 6300rpm and on the stock cam I've always shifted at 6000rpm. Should I bump the limiter up and shift at 6400? 6500? What is a safe RPM to take the engine to?

Thanks

6400 would be nice with the limiter set at 6600. That doesn't mean you need to run that rpm every time you go WOT but I would want the headroom incase I needed 100%.

That cam should peak around 6300 with your stock intake so anytime from 6300>6600 would be fine. Look at you dyno runs.

Same cam im going with. I think I'm gonna set shift points on mine around 6400-6500 and and rev limiter to 6650.

first you need to find what rpm your hp is peaking at, then try to stay in that area while shifting and accelerating. what I do since my peak HP is 6200 I set my shift light at 6000, because by the time I react and shift I'm about 6400. my rev limiter is set at 6600. stock block. only way to find your peak HP/RPM is on a dyno.

Speaking of that. I really need to get a shift light put inside one of my air vents or something. Do you find yours really helpful?

It sounds like I will set my rev limiter to 6600 or so. But does anybody know if there is a "safe" limit as to what RPM you should rev an 01 to?

very helpful. I dont need to look at my tach, I just look at the strip/street and when the light comes on I shift. I have a 01 WS6, and when I shift my 6 speed from 1st to 2nd I dont let off the gas, I let the limiter kickin Idohift it as fast as I can, if I cant get it in 2nd for some reason then I let off the gas peddle.
