Longest road trip in your Firebird, Formula or T/A
What is the longest trip you have ever taken in your Firebird, Formula, or T/A? Doesn't matter if a 6 cylinder or the LS1. My wife and I are heading to Portland, OR in a few weeks from the Asheville, NC area. We are really looking forward to driving cross country in our 10 year old T/A. Just have to keep the speed down and stay away from trucks whenever possible.

We took our 2000 non Ram Air T/A from E. TN to Daytona Beach Fla. for the Turkey run and it was a blast got 27 to 29 MPG with the air on. I would suggest you either put the protective film on the front or a bra to prevent rock chips.
Have fun and let us know how the trip went. Also take photos along the way that is a long trip and your T/A is surely going to be a great focal point for some great landscape pictures.
I am guessing that is around a 60 hour drive one way?

My brother and I took my 99 Formula on a roadtrip to California (we live in Southeastern Iowa) the first Summer I had it. Put exactly 5k miles on it in just over a week and got as good as 28 MPG.
The second longest would be this year's Power Tour. We were in it for the Long Haul, so my wife and I drove to the start in Cocoa Beach, FL. Would have put around 3500 miles on the car if some little ***** in Camry didn't cross the center line and take out my car while we were traveling through Northern Indiana. I think I put around 2300 miles on the car up until the accident. We averaged well over 25 MPG for the trip. The worst I ever got was still over 20 MPG and that included a couple passes down the 1/4 Mile. ****, these cars are AWESOME!!

I drove from New Hampshire down to Tallahassee, Florida in my 2000 Firebird convertible. I felt so bad for the old girl, I had all of my belongings in the back seat and trunk (IE a 42" plasma screen, all my sound systems for my TV, computer, AND car, all my clothes, etc.) and she still broke 30mpg for a little while. lol

Utah to Norwalk,OH 2 times totaling over 7800miles for the Ames Pontiac Nationals and 13th/15th Firehawk rally's 3 Long Distance awards. One of the two trips added miles to Eastern New York then back to Utah(which was done in 2 days[never again]). Next on the list, 4880 mile round trip next year to Norwalk for the 18th Annual Firehawk rally from Coastal Cali

Never took real long trips in my 4th gens off a trailer but I have gone cross country twice and on the power tour once in my 89 TTA's
In 2002 I bought TTA #884 from a guy in Reno, NV and flew out with a buddy to drive it home. We went to Truckee, CA first then back to NY for a total of around 2800 miles.
In 2007 I bought TTA #1461 from a guy in Los Angeles, CA and flew out to drive that one home. Did that run solo and followed much of RT66 going back to NY again for just over 2800 miles.
And in 2009 I went on the Power Tour with TTA #124 but also took side trips to Indianapolis Motor Speedway (because #124 was a festival car) and the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. From NY to Indy to Madison, WI finishing in Bristol, TN and then back to NY it was 3300 miles in 10 days and a great time.
Have fun and be safe on your trip

2000 TA Convertible M6 (non-Ram Air). Raleigh NC to Montgomery AL, about 600 miles each way. I got about 28 mpg when the car was bone stock. After breaking a valve spring, I put in heavy duty pushrods and valvesprings. Now I get about 25 mpg on the same trip. No cam changes, etc.

My longest was Minneapolis to Santa Barbara CA - then up the coast to Avenue of the Giants, back down to San Diego, and back to Mpls when brand new in '89. Put more miles on inside CA, then the round trip (Mpls-Santa B).
Have also done Mpls - Key West in 38 hrs flat - ALONE! I'm too old for that now. My plan is to drive my formula in the lower 48 states. Have two trips left: MS, AR, & LA - a delta blues trip; and all states north of Yankee stadium - a fall NE trip.
Here's two pics of the PCH trip when new (Santa Barbara 12/89; Redwoods) and a third from Zion Natl Park '94:
