slip yoke question??

slip yoke question?? hey guys...a couples of weeks ago i finished with the my rear end install...when i was done i was left with some doubts. My question is how far in should the slip yoke go into the tail shaft in the tranny? is it supposed to go all the way in? At first i slipped it all the way into the tail shaft, but the my brother in law told me i should leave about 3/4-1 inch for it to travel, so i did.
I haven't had time to drive the car much due to the weather, but i did took it out the other day for some heat cycles and i noticed that if i go into a complete stop leaving the car in gear with the clutch pressed, it will give me hell to get it out of gear. does this had to do with the slip joke not going all the way in or being too far out? thanks in advance for the help

What rear did you go with and what driveshaft are you running? No the slip yoke should not be bottomed out in the transmission, it does need to travel in and out.

You should have a min of 2.5" of spline engagement at the trans.
To tell if your yoke is too far into the trans see If your yoke will slide into the trans enough that you can drop the rear universial down and clear the rear end yoke with the suspension at normal ride height, if so you should be OK.

The rear is a MWC 9" with a pst 3" drive shaft...right now i have about 3/4" of the yoke out the tranny tail shaft but i had to move the rear end back with the adjustable LCA so it would give me those 3/4" travel and now my wheels are not alined in the wheel well ill see if i can get some pics of the slip yoke and tail shaft so you guys can have a better idea. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought 9" rears required a different than stock length driveshaft? If so, is your driveshaft stock length? To me, IMO 3/4" sounds a little tight to me too...

i finally snapped a few pics today, these are with the suspension loaded, also notice how much i had to push the rearend back in order to get that little travel. any ideas?
