With that low of a convertor you're going to limit your choices. Id say go with a stock ls6 cam

I'm running a 224r cam with my 2800 converter and 3.73 gears. Very happy with the performance and manners of the package.

Same here TSP 228r with a custom 2800 stall and 3.73's work great together.

I would recomend the 224r also. I have a 3400 stall and plan on going with the 228r wich is just slightly bigger than the 224r

2800 should be fine, you don't need a big stally, unless you plan on drag racing it a lot, plenty of guys here running 2800 stalls with small cams right through to 23x/23x cams and no problems, some running 3000 stalls with forced induction, most cams under a 224 people don't run a stally or if they do just a 2800-3000, a good street size.

i know some run 4000-5000 but there mainly track cars or cams in the 24x ranges.

running a 2800 stall with a a 230's cam is just stupid. Just because plenty of people do it doesn't make it right. The whole point of putting a cam in is to make the car faster and more fun. A 2800 stall and a 23x's cam is not going to match at all. With that stall a 224r would match much better, run better, give you better times, and make you happier The very highest I would go would be a 228 with that stall. And remember bigger cams like 230's usually need 6600 rpm shift points for full potential wich our auto's do not like.

I will admit, my TR224/3200 was a very DD friendly type setup. It was not near as aggressive as I realized i wanted because I was still getting beat when I raced. Turned out I did not get the combo for what was right for me. But for someone who that combo IS right, well it has its place in the pecking order. It is a hell of a lot better then stock.

Fare enough, I understand your point there about matching them up to the cam, etc.

I agree, our VB cam would be a good choice with that converter and it only has 1* of overlap.
