need cam help
Ok folks I have a 68 camaro, 3100lbs, 10 bolt 3:73's posi. I know I will have to upgrade my rearend in the furture and add 4:11's
now I'm putting a ls1 with 799 heads, ls6 intake, ls2 timing chain, fresh rebuild, lt headrs, ported TB. I'm going to go with a t56. the car is a weekend warrior maybe one day a year at track. I never want to lose to a stock stang/ import.
but I need help picking a cam that has great lobe for classic sound but will give me a great performance. Ive heard a torque V3, 228R AND LOVED THE SOUND.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS RECOMMEND?

Its not necessary lift that determines how tough it is for the valvetrain; the lobes itself plays a bigger role, I think.. LSR, LSK etc..
With 4:10 gear and light car you can go with a bigger cam...just get a good tune. TV3 is a good choice too. Lots of other good cam in the 230 range..search a lot!

i'd go for something in the mid 230s/low 240s on a 112-114 lsa. something similar to a g5x3 either 112 or 114. with a 410 gear and that weight, the car would roll out hard.
i'm not a fan of the ms series of cams. they don't seem to have very good midrange and fall off quickly after peaking.

wayne - check classifieds here or lgmotorsports. it is an lg specific cam that i'm pretty sure has been on the market almost 10 years. a very proven cam.
specs seem to fall somewhere in the 234/242 range on the x3 utilizing comp xer lobes or something similar. nothing crazy, just a proven cam that has been around for years.
