Awesome job Coleman!!!! I thought you were gonna call it a night after the 8.98 or we would have stayed around to see you bury your PB again.
Those ETS and 60fts are just crazy for a small tire and stock suspension.
Major props to you and your team for a job well done.

Thanks guys, DA was about 200 feet on my last pass....very impressive air... but finally got the car to leave on the money @ 1.223 60ft. very proud of that.. most all of the cars that really fly have mini tubs in order to lower the cars in the back...without them , we know how hard it is to b consistant with these crazy torque arm cars....never thought my car would get there...and with my 625 lift hyd cam...but to mini tub it would take all the fun out of the challege...i do hav a video.. if i can figure how to get it on there.. and anyone running low 9's with these cars are FLYING!!!! there are plenty of ways to make them faster, like lock up trannys, and other ultra exotic combo's, i'm out!LOL

Coleman can tell you about the powerplant. The chassis is all Madman with alot of attention to detail and TLC by Big G. Then we have the driver Coleman and the man pushing us to go faster Big R.

In reply to (crossbreed 383) . The thought that this is a (class) car makes me very happy. But I class raced 20+yrs ago ,when we won 2 world championships in comp eliminator, for the NHRA. Now I race when its cool outside (did enough sweating back in the day)LOL! My car was done by MadMan, The motor was machined and assembled in orange, tx. (i know never heard of it)Ha!427 ls7 block. T.E.A. Trick flow heads. Etc. Cam by E.P.S. My car weight is between 3020-3070lbs. But all the guys I compete with have (Stock suspension) Camaros and firebirds. All about the same cubic inch.No trick stuff. I've been trying to get the car in the eights for 2 yrs!.We run the ultra light hoosier radial drag slick. And the true(class) KILLER car in this setup is Mr. Massingill @S.A.M. in houston....With over 1000hp and times i
in the 8.20s ..He IS the man!:) P.S. used to run @bandimere sp way... loved it!!!

Your car has always been impressive. What is especially impressive is the fact that you are going so fast without any 'exotic' parts. It just goes to show that properly matched parts on a race car that was tuned with attention to detail, will outrun 'trick of the week' every time.

Geoff, i want to thank u for all ur help. u hav been with us from the very beginning. Anyone wanting to go fast, can count on ur combinations...and you can do ANYTHING with a stock computer, including make them idle right . u r the man!!!!!!

So there are no trick pieces ,and its not raced in a class where your trying to keep a combo from other competitors ,then why so tight lipped?

11-09-2011, 05:08 PM
My car runs out of the box trick flow t.e.a. 245 cathedral port heads and out of the box ls7 block. never needed any more head than that with cam and horse power limitations... my motor makes in the 650-670 h.p. range.. the guys running inch lift solid roller set ups with 2 1500 cfm throttle bodies need monster flow numbers, and make 1000+h.p. not me....we hav always run v.p. gas. 109unleaded and 114...which ever we have..

Your mustang runs as good as my car, and sounds like you have gr8 parts ,so it's up to you to put it all together, it took me 2 yrs to figure out how to really get my car off the starting line...

Now Coleman i'm not trying to stir the pot:nod:
I just dont always take all i hear or read on the web a gospel is all
I realize running fast is all in the details per say
My car has the potential to run mid 9.50's at your elevation or better as it SITS.
Or should i say SAT
As we speak i have a ls7 block being machined to get my TEA 245 heads ive been running on my litttle 4.030" bore some more room to breath
That along with some intake work ,ring pack, piston redesign, and getting less than 13% converter slippage in this thing,an ass ton of suspension and finally scaling this heap and we may be on to something:D
Also Brian Tooley and i have been scheming a little as well:D
In fact the car was last raced a month ago
At this moment it is sitting in the shop minus motor, rearend, frt suspension, dash ,seats, etc getting all the little tweaks it needs to work to its potential
People such as yourself drive others to better there own program.
If anything im jealous of that sweet air you folks have to run in
If you have raced up here as you eluded to ,then you must surely know what it does to a car/engine combo
I applaud your efforts and some day would love to get down there with you and line our heaps up and show everyone what these OLD CATHEDRAL PORT motors can do :judge:
Good night sir

My car ran 9.40's with a 404 cu in motor..Ask brian, he did the heads..As I said before, my car competes with other camaros that don't have real racing suspension. I love the fox bodies for there pure racing potential. And I feel u will make the best of urs...My car will never compete with an all out racer.. But the time slips we have gotten with my camaro, I am truly proud of..And we have worked very hard with help from others, BUT , nobody gave us anything, we did this...ourselves!!!Week end, week out, at the track...Nothing has come easy with this setup... And as far as the good air, its for anyone who wants it...:)

I don't think he's tight lipped, I think he's just one of them there older guys who doesn't type much. :)
Any pics of the motor, I'm recalling maybe a carb intake and 4500 but not really sure....

Hey Firehawk
Last i checked this is a technical site as in ls1-TECH
Therefore ,if someone is going to get on here and say look what i did ,then someone reverves the right to ask what did you do it with?
Noones saying anything negative here ,and i dont think anyone needs you to defend them :eyes:
Also just because he ran a comp elim car before, doesnt mean going fast in this one is a given:D

Mike, coming from you that means a great deal to me. You know what we've gone thru to finally get in the 8's. And very much appreciate your contribution..... Just goes to show how much punch your little heads have! Hope you come up with something a little x-tra down the road... finally got the suspension lined out...and without mini-tubs. Hey thanks for the very kind words!!! I guess even for us old guys(lol) accomplishing goals are still a blast!!! And it's a lot more fun doing it at our own pace... And you know it's an honor for people to think I might not have the set up I do, or wan't to know more...My friends know what I have and the guys that help me with, parts, suspension, tuning are all first class guys who I very much appreciate...I know there will b a lot faster guys than me with the little cams.
