quick story......yet another cheeseball Vette owner.......... First thing....I never, ever, ever, start a race. I just cruise around and mind my own business, because I know I'm far from the fastest car on the road.
Leaving the gym just now, I pull out in traffic and this Vette was maybe 1/4 mile back behind me. Bright yellow brand new one. Has the typical middle age guy with a beard, sunglasses and all you can see is his hands on the wheel and half of his head because he's scrunched down so low in the seat.
He comes flying past me, had to be doing 100mph in a 45mph. I was like, "ok, another ricer fly-by." Typical for Vette guys around here. Wasn't another car in sight forward or backward. So he slows way down to let me catch up doing my 50mph or so. We get along side and he's smiling at me and nodding......hahahahaha.....like he's got some super exotic....lol
I said, "pretty nice ride man." All he says is, "just got it, lets see how you do against it."
I said, "ok, when I see you go, then I'll go."
I just left it in "Drive".....A4. He romps it.......then I instantly romp it. About 2 seconds later I'm blowing by his ***, I shut down at 100mph and there's 4-5 cars between us. Race was all of 7-8 seconds.
He gave me the typical....what I like to call, "the what the **** is in there?" look.
I haven't actually had someone ask to run me in about 1 year........it was cool.
No better feeling than to make the guy who challenges you look like he's standing still. My old *** 165,000 mile 427ci still has what it takes...........
Putting her out to pasture soon, replacing it with a new 441ci.

Most of the ones around here are old as hell or pretty cool and knowledgable. Its the damn mustang guys. Most are young and dumb as ****. I had a damn 95 gt with no mufflers revvin at me of all things, with some kid that was about 16.

no im not cocky. when you can buy a bolt on c5 for 12-14k and run low 12s to high 11s. if you look at all the cars that are in the same price bracket as the corvette you will notice that the vette is an awesome buy, but thats my opinion. just for the record, I love ALL types of cars, im just a car guy. But a c5 especially is an awesome bang for your buck, and they really hold their value well.
Now there is a c6 locally that is cam only with a 150 shot that ran 9.98. he has less than 30k in the car. Im sorry, but its kinda hard to argue with those numbers. Not cocky, just the facts.
