AIR Pump
I know the AIR pump is supposed to whine but lately after the car sits for a short time then started up, it whines louder than normal almost sounds like a bad bearing in a pulley. No ses light but car feels slightly sluggish. ANy opinons. Also the car makes a muffled clicking sound at low rpm especially when cold almost like an exhaust leak. 99 z28 with 50,000 miles on it. Thanks

I have a 99 SS just posted a thread asking about that noise as well...so far its a normal sound and its actually an annoying loud on mine which is supposedly normal from the responses i got. As for the car feeling sluggish your going to have to get a response from someone else b/c in my opinion that could be a lot of diff. reasons. Good luck.

just remove your air pump and all the tubes that go along with it. I did when I put my headers on last sunday. Yeah your ses light will come on but you won't have to worry about the pump acting up and there is 0 performance loss for doing it.

Check your one way valves on your air hoses, if they go bad they will make a clicking sound and because they are letting air back to the pump it will make a louder sound.

two things.... firstly, the air pump is electric right???
Secondly, I think mine has crapped out, in which case I'll need a new one, as the Sniffers are rough here in NY, so if anyone pulls theirs out (and its working) and they wanna send it my way instead of tossing it, id be happy to take it off your hands!

Follow the medal air tubes from the manifold to where they meet the rubber hoses. The check valves are between the medal tubes and the rubber hoses. You can get them from Autozone for about 9.00 a peice. The relays are in the fuse box under the hood. It say air pump and air sol. They are little relays and you can also get them from autozone for about the same price.
