You can reuse your Lifters (you would have to removed the heads to replace them anyway). New Head gasket, should be able to reuse Timing cover and water pump gaskets. New Balancer Bolt.

You can get some new LS6 spring pretty cheap. If not, go with the Comp's 918's

Not sure about the 5.3L cam, but the LS6 cam is a small base cam, you would need 7.425 push rods (at least fro a LS1 to LS6 cam you would).

Would suggest new LS2 timing Chain and Oil pump as long as your there.. a Ported LS6 would be good.

I am sure everyone else will chime in...

It may be 25-30 hp, but it will be up in the RPM range b/c it has a 117* LSA. What exactly are you trying to achieve here? You would need some pretty good stall to get this thing moving in a heavy truck.

thats the problem. i want my torque right there. i have a 2000 stall. but i want to be able to punch it from a dead stop and it want to go. not bog until it hits a certain rpm.

and have a nice lope sound.

What size tires and gear do you have? What trans? Does this 5.3 have the original fuel injection swapped over as well?

I like the sound of a lope but I still want great bottom end torque. And be able to bring it up to 5k at least without being dead on power

I would go with the Cam Motion P/N C33-676....Idle-5,200 RPM, Duration at 0.050": 212'/218', Valve lift: .544"/.544", Lobe separation: 113', Intake centerline: 109'

The 212"/218" profile is great on 5.3's and on 113* + 4* it will make tons of torque down low with a little (slight) chop at idle. It should also pull up to 5500-5800 in a 5.3. I have the Comp Cams version 212"/218" low lift and its great, but think the Cam Motion would work better in your application. Use the cheap LS6 yellow springs and 7.425" push rods to complete the package.

The '02 - '04 LS6 cam will make your truck feel like a VTEC motor with almost no power down low and screaming up top...not what you are looking for.
