Default what head gasket... cometic or mls

ok so i have a 5.3 that has head studs car will be seeing upwards of fifeen pounds. i have an option of cometic mls or just factory mls i have both so price isnt the issue just whatever is better. ive heard of issues with water sealing on the cometics, thats my only concern with. btw car will be mainly street driven if that . thanks nick

GM LS9 7 layer MLS gasket from the dealer. part # is 12622033

don't even waste ur time with cometics

+1 my dealer sold me mine for 49 a piece. gmpartsdirect sells them for like 35 but comes out to the same after shipping

so ls9 mls' will work no problem with a 5.3 and and 862's? no bore size conflicts?

No it wont be a problem but will drop compression a tad having a bigger bore size on the gasket...

main problem is if you put a smaller size gasket then the bore or chamber then your heads.
cometics dont really seem to have an issue any more.
I had some cometics way back when that leaked, but the problem was i was using a 3.9" bore size with 6.0L heads that have a 4.0 size so the gaskets over hung, got the right gasket, no problems.
the cometics seem to be about the same quality as the MLS GM's so might as well just get lower cost ones unless you need a specific size.

If you gotta pull the heads off, you will have a better chance of being able to re-use the MLS gaskets over the Cometics

i think were are also talking about the mls cometics, which can be reuse too.
