LQ9 vs LQ4 pistons, both press fit rods?
I know one's dished and one's not. But are they both pressed fit rods? I know the LQ4 is, but is the LQ9?
Thinking of putting LQ9 pistons in my LQ4 to get the compression up, but don't know if they'll go on my rods.
TIA

Doing the exact same upgrade to my truck... Just picked up some DNJ P1369's (LQ9 pistons) to go in my 2000 LQ4. Also doing rod bearings, rings, water pump, head gaskets, belt tensioner, belts, exhaust manifolds, etc.

I know for sure that the press fit pins and the full floating pins are a little bit different size pin diameter ,,,,it's only something like .025" difference but enough that You can't use the earlier pistons with the newer rods and vise-versa . Go to summit and look up pistons for 2003 and 2007 and they'll have the pin diameters listed along with comp height ........,etc They changed I believe all LS based gen3's and gen 4's to the newer full floating pin rods in mid 2004 .

Hey John Theroux, I'm looking to do this same swap. How did your's go? any recommendations or learning you could share?
My Rods will be press fits. Just want to see if there is anything you would do in in hindsight?
